Not liking the refitted VA planes

Embarkation and disembarkation on the 747s at LGW/MAN & MCO is through the L2 door, therefore unless the Economy passengers stay seated they will most likely be off before the upper deck PE passengers.

For the last 18 months they have disembarked the front of the plane followed by the upper deck and I would expect that to continue.

Toilets they can send the E passengers downstairs no problems ;)

Not sure how the loo situation is going to work. If they send the Econ passengers downstairs the first loos they come too are in the PE cabin so are they going to have to go downstairs, go through the PE cabin and then halfway down the Econ cabin just to go to the loo :scared1:

It all sounds like an ill thought out, half cooked plan :mad:

I emailed Virgin about the new set-up and the situation with the toilets and getting out of the bubble first. here is their reply:

"In regards to the lavatories, our Economy passengers would not be permitted to use the Premium Economy lavatories, and the cabins will be sectioned off from each other.

With disembarkment of the aircraft, again there is no need to worry. We have exit doors within the Premium Economy cabin in the bubble of which you will be using
."

Not sure about the disembarking bit. How would they do that? :confused3

That reply is just pure fantasy -it has already been confirmed the economy passengers use the loos at the front of the PE section and get off first (as they are closer to the stairs) Theer is absolutely no way they will be putting a second gangway up to the doors in the middle of the bubble....

I've never flown PE but got M+M flights for Xmas (on the return journey) for a good price. After following this thread I am glad I didn't pay a lot extra and not sure how VA think the new reconfiguration will entice people to pay more :confused3 It all seems a bit ill thought out at the minute.

Unless anyone has a good review to post!! :)

Barbarella (G-VROM) has been re-fitted and is back in service from Gatwick now so hopefully there will be some trip reports soon!

If we get Barbarella (or possibly Ladybird (G-VAST) will be done before we fly in July - thanks V-Flyer!) then I think we will have to forego the "bubble" experience and sit in the expanded downstairs PE area where you can definitely get all the perks and a dedicated flight crew.
