Okay, this is an evil thread. I like Sonic and now I'm wanting one of their milkshakes or some cheese tater tots. Unfortunately, the closest Sonic is in Williamsburg, about an hour away.
I said sometimes, but more often than not I'll tip. The only times I might not tip is when I get a milkshake in the drive thru, and even then I may say "keep the change."
To me it's like a waiter or waitress taking your order and bringing your food to you at someplace like Chili's. I may not tip as much as I would at a full service restaurant, but usually I will.
Of course, the Sonic carhops have to deal with things -- rain, heat, snow, wind, traffic -- that a full service restaurant server doesn't have to.
