Not Impressed with Brown Derby

I have been meaning to post this since we got back from our trip at the beginning of August, but I am just now getting a chance to.

We finally gave up 2 dining plan meals to eat at the Brown Derby and I was really disappointed. :sad2:
Our steak was dry and the legendary Cobb Salad was minced up like dip! Maybe if we would have tried something different we wouldn't have disliked it as much, but we ordered what they are "famous" for.
I have to be perfectly honest....Ohana's is only 1 table service and it blows the Brown Derby out of the water!
I am sure some people like the BD, but after hearing all of the hype and finally getting to try it, I was not impressed.
Anyone else disappointed?

That's how they do their cobb salad. I find it very tasty! Sorry the steak was dry.

You should have sent the steak back if it wasn't to your liking. They would have been completing accomodating! That is the way they do the cobb salad, though, so that wouldn't have changed. I am so sorry you didn't like it. We had an excellent meal there this past July - DW is adamant about not eating in parks (too expensive, better options at the resorts) but she is a convert for HBD.

The Cobb is fixed the same way the original Brown Derby restaurant did it; it's a classic.

Although I do not feel this place is worth 2 meal plan credits, I think the food here is decent, especially considering the other options at this park. My last few times here I have had the seared ahi and it's been excellent.

My DH and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Brown Derby this past May. I can't put it at the top of my list...too many other awesome places vying for a spot there..but certainly one of the best in park places.
I have only been to Ohana for the character breakfast, the food was ok..the place was loud, somewhat dirty and the service left alot to be desired. Yet, I know that alot of people LOVE Ohana..so I was probably just there on a bad day.

I understand a cobb salad is supposed to be minced up. I finally ordered one without the eggs because I don't eat eggs. I didn't like the salad a lot either.

We have lunch ADRs there in 2 weeks. I'm going to try the Cobb salad even tho it doesn't look like any Cobb salad I've ever eaten, because DH is from California and he swears that it's the 'original' Cobb salad the BD is famous for.

The only time I've been to BD, I really liked it. Didn't have the Cobb Salad. I had a pork chop, I think. And the grapefruit cake was delicious.

It is disconcerting when you first get the Cobb salad. Not at all what most of us expect, is it?

Once I got over that, I do like the Cobb, but it was a shock. The other thing I like there is the grouper. Always good.

I agree though for a theme park location, it is a overpriced.

Look at the bright side, you have now been there and checked it off your list :)
