Not impressed with B&C at all

We just got back and had a great trip, but had a bad experience at B&C. This is our 3rd trip and I have always wanted to check it out, so finally we got the chance after our morning at AK. We got there at about 4:00 and waited 10 minutes for a table, which was no big deal. We have 2 kids and a 1 year old that was asleep in the stroller, which they knew about. So they seat us in the place, which I understand is small, but they wanted us to put the baby in the stroller behind the booths where we would not be able to see him. I told them no I would not do that and to bring us a high chair and we would start waking him up, he loves ice cream anyhow. Then the guy says they can't put high chairs at the end of booths, so why were we sat there to start with? The guy kept walking from the front to the back and by this time everyone is looking at us and the whole atmosphere just isn't "Disney" like. Then they move us to one of the center tables and we wait another 10 minutes for a server. She comes and the first thing out of her mouth was "Are you on the dining plan?" I said, yes but we are having ice cream and will pay cash. So we order and it takes forever and by the time it gets to us it is all melted. :( So by this time I am just dissappointed and want to leave. She brings the bill and we pay and leave. This was going to be our dinner, but we ended up getting a large pizza back at the resort to share. I felt pretty silly that I had talked the place up so much and we traveled to a different resort for Ice Cream and it was like this. Oh well, next time we'll just get a Dole Whip at MK. ::yes::

If this was going to be dinner, why did you order ice cream? There are safety and logistics reasons for placement of the high chair. Sorry you weren't happy and hopefully some day you'll get back there and it will be what you has hoped for all this time.

We had a similar experience our last trip. The restaurant was EMPTY and they wanted the 4 of us to sit at the bar. We said we wanted to sit at a table or booth (especially since we would be sharing out desserts.) We got a LOT of attitude from the hostess and she said we would have to wait for a booth. She didn't enjoy our joking about the restaurant being empty either.

We waited and waited and waited...15 minutes went by and we were finally seated in a booth that was sitting there empty the entire time.

Our server was wonderful though and the food was great. We put up with the above because we had experienced this restaurant before and really wanted the No Way Jose!

I'm sorry OP, but I can't back you up on this one. Beaches and Cream is TINY. I don't understand why you would even think you could leave your baby sleeping in the stroller and block the walkway of the servers? As far as her asking you if you are on the dining plan, these people are super busy, and the same exact question was asked of us first thing too, I got used to it. I didnt' take offense at all, they are just plain too busy sometimes to be extra nice.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience there OP. Don't worry about missing dinner too much - we had burgers there a few years ago and weren't all that impressed. And yes, it probably would have gone a lot smoother if the host had noticed the stroller and addressed it before seating you but that doesn't always happen. :( IMO, strollers in a restaurant are just a bad idea, way too much going on in the walkways and B&C is tiny, but I'm sure with it being your first trip you didn't realize just how small it was. Maybe next time just ask the host about it beforehand. :)

Anytime there's a situation and it feels like all eyes are on us, they're usually not. I know for me, if attention is drawn to me, I feel like everyone notices but I'm usually just worrying about it too much. ;) I hope you'll give B&C another chance - it is a cute place and they do have great ice cream. :)

Yeah but why on earth would they seat a family WITH A BABY in a place no high chair could be used? That's dumb and I would've been just as annoyed as the lady (or man?) posting about it.

Sorry for the trouble you had at B&C. The seating problem was definitely the hostess fault. They should have asked you how many high chairs you would need and then seat you appropriately. Because of the closeness of the eatery, baby carriages just don't seem to work. But it was ridiculous for them to tell you to put your sleeping child around a corner where you would not see them! It takes only a second for a child to disappear. If I were you, I would write Disney Guest Communications about your experience. It was not a shining Disney moment.

We had lousy service the time we went as well. Tables were empty but weren't getting bussed, so we waited a long time for a table. Had they been understaffed I would have understood, but there were four or five CMs behind the counter talking between themselves for most of the hour we were there - sometimes one of them would stop their conversation to bus a table or take an order. Then had the slowest waitress in the world. And the waitstaff was not at all pleasant. The food we thought was medicore as well. We stay at Boardwalk Villas, so for us it isn't out of the way, but we still don't go.

In a way you were lucky Jaxs27 you didn't wat dinner there, I ate there once and the burgers and fries were so greasy I couldn't get why people rave abou it. I dd have the icream and it ewas good but it was like youre regular run of the mill icecream like Friendlys around here in MA. not everything is magical at disney, the people that work here are regular people like you and me, they can have good and bad days.
Asking you to put your son behinea both is unaceptable anywhere, I would of written disney on that one.
Hope this didn't take away from you're whole experience with Disney:)

I read the OP's Post and definitely think that Beaches and Cream's service was seriously lacking..

I am going to ask that you send a letter or email to Disney about the way you were treated. If they cannot accommodate strollers, and it is small I agree, then there should be a place you can leave said stroller and carry the baby in for a high chair placement....or in your lap, whatever. Also, when you see someone with a baby, you should ask if they need a high chair, that is a given and then you seat them accordingly.. not tell them you can have this booth but we cannot put a high chair there...

I cannot blame the OP for the treatment she received at this restaurant, seriously Disney needs to be made aware of this kind of treatment given to people with children... After all, isn't WDW for children and adults... you need to be able to accommodate the children.

I'm going to have to agree with Mackey Mouse, and urge the OP to write a letter. The stroller issue merely amplifies the seating problems there. We were seated 5 people to a small center table that barely holds 4, and received some of, if not the, worst service I have ever had anywhere in Florida. My review was scathing at the time, and in retrospect, I probably was being too nice. The place is tiny, and if they were slammed busy, the service level might be somewhat excusable. But nobody seemed to be in a hurry to do anything there (wait tables, bus tables, serve ice cream) on our visit, except disappear for long periods of time, or stand around and chat with the fellow staff members. One particular server there just goes through the motions, gives little if any effort, and still rakes in the tips (under the old DDP at least).
The front podium needs some basic customer service training: The host or hostess just seem to cram people inside, into any nook and cranny, without any thought process regarding table size or needs. If you dare to complain, they try to bully you into taking what they gave you, by the threat of having go back on the list, and to wait alot longer for a booth (just as an example).

We eat at B&C about once a month as it is one of our favorite places on property. That being said, I have "bumped heads" with the hostess before as well, and have witnessed less than "Disney like" attitudes amongst some of the servers. Once I even witnessed a shouting match between two CMs at the podium outside. This definitely does not apply to all the CMs there, as there are some good ones for sure (Dominica and another guy who's name fails me) but I agree that some could use a refresher on the Disney way....

We were going to have Ice Cream for dinner :cool1: , but since it was all melted, we didn't eat much.

OP..sorry for your bad experience at B&C. This is one of our favorite places to eat when we go to WDW. I can't say that the service is always wonderful, but we do always enjoy the burgers, fries, onion rings and ice cream. I would have to agree with the other posters and say, write a letter. It can't hurt. They should think about expanding this restaurant since it is so tiny and a lot of people like to go here.

I don't usually post a negative about anything because it could have just been an off day. But.....

On our only time at Beaches and Cream, the place was pretty full so we were seated at the counter which was no big deal. We had no idea who our server was and didn't find out because after fifteen minutes of sitting there right next to where they were doing the take out window and getting NO response from ANYONE, we left. Now, it takes a lot for my husband to get that ticked off to leave.

He was so ticked off that he told the hostess why we were leaving. She said "that's impossible", took us back in and sat us in the SAME place!!! Our server came over in another five minutes, said nothing about not seeing us before, barely spoke to us other than to take our order and then we had to hunt her down again for our check!

My husband loves burgers and these were really good for him. But the service was so bad we have never been back and even joke about it being an "option" when we are in the Epcot resort area.

When you make my husband that mad, it's got to be bad service.

I tend to go to Beaches and Cream once a trip or every other trip. I've seen lackluster service and "normal" service. But if I saw it consistently so or witnessed the servers or hostesses treat people that badly, I'd want to say something.

I'm wondering if we're seeing an influx of college program cast members who are "stuck" at working food service, and their sullen attitudes are reflecting it?

I've always enjoyed B&C, but in April we felt totally ignored by everyone from the hostess to the servers. Even a simple request such as a glass of water seemed too much to ask. We contacted Disney and they returned our call and said they were going to look into the matter.

1. Are you the food police? People eat Ice Cream for dinner at Disney all the time!:rotfl2:

2. So if there are those safety measures WHY did the CM seat them there with the baby?? The CM has no way of knowing HOW long the baby will sleep. Plus ANY reasonable person would KNOW that a parent is NOT going to leave a sleeping baby OUT OF SIGHT!!

Sorry, but your "defense" just shows how incompetent they are there!

I have eaten here a few times. Food is fine. The IDIOT CMs that work seating are IDIOTS! (They are completely clueless) Service is so so.. (And the WORST person I ever saw doing the seating was MUCH older then I am so don't blame the college kids!)

What's funny is that you hear the dining plan is ruining service... Well here's a CASH customer and the service sucks!

I was thinking about trying BC for lunch on our arrival day...we are staying at the Dolphin. Hw far a walk is it...but after reading these posts maybe I shouldn't go at all?
