I am not having a wonderful day today. Had some friends in town, one from Scotland, the other from Oklahoma (and my ex came along because we're still friends). I could tell that their stay hadn't been going as well as they wanted it to, but every time I asked they said they were having fun and/or to just pick somewhere to go and we'd have fun. So I did. Well, this afternoon their plane leaves at 5:00 pm so we were gonna do stuff 'til I had to drop them at the airport and then I work at 6:00 pm. Me and the ex got up this morning, and I msg'd the friends to say we were up and to just let me know when they were ready. Got no response. Tried again. No response. Messaged them like 3 times, tried to call their room, tried to call their cell phones once (over a period of about 2 hours). No response. So I'm wondering what the hell is going on. Finally I get a message back "Hey, we woke up early and didn't want to disturb you." So I message back saying "OK, so what's the story for today?" And the response back is "Oh, we're already checked out. We'll find our own way to the airport. See ya." So I tell the ex, whose response is, "Well I guess I'm just going to go home then." So, I got ditched by everyone.

Okay the mom in me is coming out. You're not responsible for other people's happiness. If they decided not to have fun it's on them not you. I know you may feel disappointed, but really it's not you. I like Mike's idea, go treat yourself and enjoy!!!

Have a great day:goodvibes

Hey Jay

I often have out of state friends visit and some like me to take charge and others prefer to see Portland independently. To each his own. I try not to take it personally either way. It is crappy that they didn't return your calls or let you know their plans...that's very rude. But remember..it's a reflection on them..not you.
As I recall you were lovely company!

Thanks. The thing is, they wanted me to take them around, etc. and then seemed to not enjoy themselves. But whatever. I had a blast with ya'll too.

I think sometimes people don't really know what they want. I often read about people enjoying their solo trips to Disney. Everytime I that I e-mail my friend who makes all of our plans and tells him that yes, I love the plans he makes. He doesn't have to worry if I am having fun because I am. You can't read people's minds. If was up to them to have a good time.

Don't take it personally. I agree as others have said it's not your responsibility to ensure other's happiness, nor is their behavior a reflection of you. There very well could have been other underlying issues that caused their behavior. Chalk it up to that and don't dwell on it. :)
