Not happy with purchasing Kingdom Lunch Vouchers (child)

I'll tell you what I wanted. For the nearly $40 I paid for my three kids I wanted more than chicken strips, fries, and a scoop of ice cream.

But sadly, as those who posted on this board in the past knew..that wasn't going to happen at the places you chose to eat at. Because of this board, we knew just which places would give us the most bang for our buck. I know that most people have those vouchers as part of the complete packages of their trip to WDW..and they don't really know the value, or care..they just wanted the packages. You, like me, bought them to save money. The only way to do that was to research and see where you would get the appetizers, etc for the kids vouchers. We only bring kids vouchers for RF-AK. We buy off the kids menu, or get adult vouchers and share the kids food for the other places.

What's the wording on the vouchers? Do they say the child has to order off of the kids menu? Does it say the policy is subject to change?

I love the idea of the vouchers, but I've been able to see how the breakfast or lunch vouchers were a good idea for kids.

I didn't realize I still had one..guess I'll be visiting eBay..no kids going with us on this trip!!

The wording is:

**Your vacation Kingdom lunch is valid during normal lunch hours only at a participating restaurant located within the Walt Disney World Resort and includes one appetizer, one entree, one non alcholick beverage and 1 dessert. Tax and gratuities are included. Alcoholic beverages, frozen drinks, souvenir drink mugs and rooms service are not included.
Children must order from the children's menu, where available. Children under the age of three ordering from the menu will be charged for the meal (children may share from the adult's plate).**

So that one sentence "children must order from the children's menu", says it all : (

I don't believe you have to pay with vouchers up front - so if you aren't getting what you want with the vouchers, pay cash (as others have reported doing) and resell them (although technically they are apparently non-transferable).

It also says "where available" that would mean to me if they had a childrens menu then kids would order from that and if not then order off adult menu. I do agree if they dont have certain items that are on your voucher you should be able to order something off the adult menu or they could just add a simple item or two to the kids menu so you get whats included on the voucher. We only used ours at RFC because of the great things I heard about it here on the boards. We were told to order off the adult menu for the childs voucher but we expected to order off the kids and we did not ask to order off the adult menu, our server told us that we could if we wanted to.
It doesnt seem right that you would buy a voucher for $12 expecting to get all the items when you could just buy a regular kids meal for $6-8 directly from the restuarant.

But because of these boards, where most of us learned about the availability of the vouchers, most of us also know that those places don't offer the appetizer..so we aren't expecting it. And they do say on them, you have to pick from the children's menu if available. I assume the reason they are less than half the price of the adults, is because you don't normally get the adult's food...some places, like RF-AK, are just overly nice about it.

They also say on the back, "restaurant locations, components and terms are subject to change without notice".

Again, these are usually part of a package..and the cost is not even known when you get them that way. There is no price listed on the children's one I've got in my hand right now. I've seen people use them on kids meals in the AllStars, and not even give any concern as to if they are getting their money'w worth...I actually suggested to one person, she go ahead and get a milk, since she already had the refillable mugs, and had no intention of getting her free drink. I've seen the breakfast one's being used in places where the breakfast costs half of what the value of the voucher would be if we bought them from Connections.

It's best to use these in places where you WILL get your money's worth, if that's what you intended them for. Just like I wouldn't use the adult vouchers in places that don't offer an appetizer or cost worthy dessert. I would never use adult vouchers in the All Stars, Wide World of Sports, or Trail's end buffet.

It also says "where available" that would mean to me if they had a childrens menu then kids would order from that and if not then order off adult menu.

Exactly..and they did have a child's menu, it was available..so that's where they have to order from per the vouchers : (

Lucky for us, the RF-AK has a child's menu and still they allow us to order from the adult menu. That's a bonus.

I can't believe we didn't go to there one last time when we had the grands..we must have missed seeing we had one more coupon. That was the deal of the century, allowing the kids to order from the adult menu!! They also allowed us to combine a child and adults voucher to get the volcano!

I've been reading that many people have used 1 adult voucher for 2 adults. Is that really allowed or are the restaurants being really nice and allowing it?

Would someone with an adult voucher please type up all the wording on the voucher? I want to base myself on the info on the voucher opposed to just asking a waiter to split a plate (voucher) for two.

Thanks!!

it says exactly the same thing down to the children ordering part...you can have 20 people split the meal if you want, it says nothing about how many can use it, just how many items you get.

edited cause it was overly crabby sorry to be offensive( :( )

all the op did was say they didn't get what they paid for, now it's supposibly her" fault" for going to the 'wrong 'rest. good gravy what next

I haven't seen the other posts you mentioned, and I'm not sure why you brought them up here.

I think in the past and on this thread, what people are saying, is that in some cases you may have overpaid for the vouchers, based on how you want to use them. The restaraunt she mentioned, does have a children's menu..so unfortunately, she's stuck picking off it. The best thing to do, as mentioned by another, is to just pay for the child's meal and use the voucher where you might get a better deal. No one is saying it's her fault, but just saying, that is how the voucher's work. No one is saying the child doesn't deserve food..just saying that particular voucher may not be worth buying if the restaurants have a child's menu and won't allow you to vary from what the voucher allows.

Spliting a meal (without an extra plate charge), is just something Disney has always allowed. It has nothing to do with the vouchers..the places are getting paid for the food. It has to do with the restaurants policy on sharing. If you can share without a voucher, you can share with one.

I'm not sure why this would be for the debate board..we aren't debating if a child can use a voucher..but rather, since it's the budget board, we are trying to see if using a child's voucher is money smart. In this case, in this restaurant, it appears not to be. Again, these vouchers are not meant to be money savers, but part of packages..but over the years, some of us have found out they can be money savers. Just not in all the restaurants.

Sorry this upsets you so much..the vouchers as you can tell by the lengthly thread at the top, are sometimes confusing, and so they sometimes take some explaining...and certainly most of us here on the budget board, want to use them to stretch our budgets, not as a prepaid meal plan, where you might not get your money's worth. No one is arguing that it wouldn't be nice of this restaurant to offer above and beyond what the vouchers says it has too..but they apparently aren't going to do that..so using the child's voucher there is IMO a waste.

Our last visit to RFC we had 2 adult and 1 child voucher for 6 of us and we still had food left over. We combined 2 vouchers for the volcano and we didnt need the extra dessert so we got it and gave it to a family at another table. A mom and dad with 4 small kiddos. They certainly looked like they could use a little bonus and they were very happy to get the dessert. We are definately hitting RFC this time around also.
