I just got home from a great trip and was going through all the mail... Well IO got my Dec Disney Catalog... I was going to go after the Toontown Christmas houses.... Well when they RETIRED Donalds Boat a few years ago I decided it would be to expensive as these where selling on ebay for well over 150 bucks.

Well I know it does not make sense to be mad at the fact that I can now go after the hardest one from the set (Goofys is still retired from last year) But as a collector I am mad that What would make my set worth more (by being retired) is now worth less cause you reissued the piece. How mad do you think I would be if I just bought this from ebay for 3 to 4 times the catalog price....

Come on Disney RETIRED means RETIRED...

Maybe I can get lucky on my next trip to Disney and find Mickey for Prez or a HM Dangle has been reissued...

To quote Roy Disney in his resignation letter to Eisner
"that the Company is rapacious, soul-less, and always looking for the “quick buck” rather than long-term value which is leading to a loss of public trust".

Sounds like the "we found a box" syndrome to me...

I'm afraid to say that Walt must be thawing in his freezer for the last 10-15 years!
How can a company phylosophy go so awry???????????
Disney is quickly becoming the Enron, Phillip-Morris, and all the other corporate thieves of the times, it's only a matter of time before the doody hits the castle (or the fan)!
Disney has not been Disney for quite sometime now! Hopefully it will turn around in the near future but, I won't hold my breath!!!!

I think you its retired people need to chill, so what if they brought it back I think the problem is Disney gives too much….To solve the problem if they gave you the Donald Boat towards the end of the event instead of at first you would have been fine, but then now when they un-retire it you whine like as if you got a plastic cup or something. :teeth:

Oh and forget the board position, corporate now knows you complained and broke hallowed ground.

Maybe they just "brought it out of the vault" !! :p :p

..sorry, couldn't resist. Disney does with all kinds of things.. heck even with pins, they make a super low LE that everyone wants and fights over, then 9 months later they come out with a rack pin that is nearly the same. I'd swear they go on Ebay and see what is selling for far more then they sold it for and thats how they decide what to make!

Having worked for Disney I was always under the impressiong they would never never duplicate a collectable.

This is not right. I would tell people who were buying Snow Globes. " GET IT NOW YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN"

This is what I was taught. Even Disney clothers, other than the basic style, are designer clothing. Once made we would get 2 to 3 shipments and they were gone

LIKE I HAVE BEEN SAYING THANK MR EISNER AND ALL THE LITTLE BOYS IN YOUR BACK POCKET. YOU'VE MADE ANOTHER MISTAKE.

I've been wondering how long Disney pins would be highly collectible.

This is what killed off the Beanie Baby mania. Time to find another obsession, I guess. Diana
