Just back from a ten day stay at the CR. Originally, we booked a room on the 14th floor, on the Tower club floor. Now, there was a time when the 14th floor was a concierge floor and the 12th floor was considered concierge "light". Knowing this I wanted the 14th floor which I got. What I didn't know was that the 12th floor is excatly the same now, but you still pay more for the 14th floor. Anyway, we checked into our room and found that the room had not been refurbished completely, and the bathroom was ADA compliant. This meant that there was a roll in shower, and the usual 5 foot turning radius between the sink counter and the toilet. Since there wasn't any door between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom, only one person could be in the bathroom area at one time. This is not a workable plan with a 20 year old DD and a 23 year old DS, not to mention DW. Also there was only one table in the room and this was occupied by the computer monitor. If you wanted room service you would have to eat on your bed. As I said before, the room had not been refurbished to the same degree as the other rooms. So, here I was, in a cramped room that I didn't like, paying more per day than the other rooms, that were completely redone. I asked if we might be able to switch to another room and was told that we could go down to the 12th floor but with a bay lake view (I was also paying for a MK view). When I asked what the price difference might be I was told it would be the same (this was from a woman at the front desk). I rubbed my neck and told her I would have to think about it. In the meantime, I talked to one of the CMs at the concierge desk ( A very astute young man from South Jersey [the 51st state]). He not only put us in a room with an MK view on the 12th floor, he told us that we would be getting a refund in the mail because we were moving from the 14th to the 12th floor! In passing one day I mentioned to another nice lady at the concierge desk, that our move had nothing to do with service or staff. She told me that she understood and that she hated that room on the 14th floor because no one ever likes it there (room # 4915 by the way). We were very happy in our new room - the computer was on it's own table along the wall, the ceilings were not all very low like the other room. and even the concierge lounge was very modern and clean looking, just all around better. The only small thing is that the balconys on the 14th floor are all huge; probably three times the size as the others. I didnt want to complain but I/we felt we would be much happier in a different room, and it turns out we were.

I am glad it all worked out in the end. :thumbsup2 I think if you talk to the right person, usually the concierge, they will make it right for you. That's one reason we enjoy staying concierge - usually great service.

You confirmed for me what I had been thinking all along.....those 14th floor rooms need MORE refurb than they received apparently. We were in a MK one bedroom suite a couple years ago and it was awfully shabby & rundown for a "deluxe" and a suite and esp the rate, lol. I couldn't believe when I heard that the 14th floor was getting a light makeover and not the extent that the rest of the tower received. The suite we had should have been an embarrassment to the CR. CR used to be our favorite hotel, but after that stay, I have moved on.
