Sad day today - just cancelled our WDW reservation at the Port Orleans French Quarter for Aug 9th this year :sad1:

Knew that finances weren't going to allow us to go a while ago and changed my ticker but had to do the deed today. Listening to 'Right down the middle of Main Street USA' in the telephone queue didn't make me feel any better either.

We are hoping to go next summer (hence ticker) but with prices looking the way they do at the moment we won't get any change out of £5000 for the three of us and that is just too much. So unless something amazing happens, looks like it will be 2015 for us. :sad2:

Don't worry...WDW isn't going anywhere. So when you're ready, come on over. :beach:

better to go when you can afford it and then you can relax and totally enjoy your holiday ..... it'll be time before you know it :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that but I know how you feel, we're on the cusp of cancelling our POR booking for September for the same reasons but still can't force myself to actually hit cancel :(

So sorry you had to cancel your trip. I am sure that's got to be super disappointing, but I hope you have a wonderful time planning for next year. I starting planning my cruise trip at 15 months and with under 6 months to go, the wait really isn't that bad.

How gutting:(
Our ticker is for 2015. I would love to go more often but being realistic, we can only afford to go every 3-4 years. I would rather save like mad and then relax, know ing that it is all paid for. 2015 will be here before you know it xx

Thanks for all the sympathy :).

We know we have been incredibly lucky to have gone so many times anyway and our son who is only seven has already been four times. I do appreciate how fortunate we are.

It's just it's like an addiction for me (think this may sound familiar to one or two of you!) - the more I go the more I want to go. I find that when I come home, I am alright for a few months because I have had my WDW fix and then I start to pine. It just seems like £3,500 used to be enough to budget and then suddenly we are now looking at £5,000.

I keep consoling myself with the thought that I don't want my son to think that the entire world consists of England and Florida and that it will be good for him to go somewhere else - especially exploring his own country which is probably what we will do. Don't want to waste too much on a trip to Europe when we need to be saving for our Disney dollars!! :lmao:

When we went a few years ago DH was having a really bad time at his old job, and we went away not sure if he'd have a job to go back to. Knowing all this we still went away, and although we had a good time it really did spoil it.It was the constant thought of OMG how are we going to pay for this that played on our mind constantly. In hindsight I wished we had waited a year and got our money's worth.

We're pt Florida residents and rent our house as a vacation villa when we are not there, so not as devastating but.... I just had to cancel our stay because I fell before we were going to leave and broke my ankle. I had managed to snab a BOG reservation for my birthday and boy it hurt canceling that. I'm not well and have loads of orthopedic issues to begin with and will need tons of therapy, this will impact how much we can go to the parks from now on. :( I feel for you.

Ditto :grouphug:

We have decided after 5 straight years to have a break next year.
Will wait for the Mine Train and new Gringots ride to have settled in for 2015 :)

Yeah I totally agree with that, we are having are 2nd child due next Thursday but we have been in Orlando every year the last few at this time. Now I'm super excited ad wouldn't change having our new baby for the world but I'm missing my Florida fix as I know we won't be going until next year at least, but as you say it's a near 5k trip each time it's going to be hard to save. Like you have said I'm just thankful how many times I've been and that I will get the chance again weather it be in a yr or 2 some people do t even get that chance. Doesn't make it any easier though. Lol

Sorry to hear that, you must feel pig sick, but as everyone says it will soon roll round.

What we have found the last couple of times, is that the Disney part, the accom, tickets, food etc used to be the sticking point in terms of price, but now its seems that Disney (staying on site I am blabbing on about here) is quite good value for money, but the flights are pushing it out of everyone's reach.

We have paid 760.00 (give or take a tenner) each for 3 weeks at POR for 5 of us. That's, accom, tickets and DP. Which is approx. 250.00 per person, per week. I think that is bloody good to be honest, the downside is that the flights are more or less 1000.00 each!

It seems odd that people who have never been pass comments like 'Disney is too expensive'. I beg to differ, although getting there is.

aw sorry you have had to cancel your trip , just think though if you save really hard between now and 2015 you will be able to do even more when you finally get there

i agree time goes so quick i started planning our current sept trip almost 2 year ago and been on the boards and planning has really helped time fly

we also love having our big florida saving chart the kids cut all pictures out of brochures and decorated it then we put the cash on one side with markers at flight prices , theme park ticket per person , hotel etc and everytime we passed a marker it felt great

xx

Awww I feel for you :(

We were planning on going next year with my family but we are on the verge of putting an offer in on our first house so it's very unlikely we'll be booking anything anytime soon.

Hopefully our next trip will be our honeymoon, possibly at the end of 2015. We already have a terramundi pot for our honeymoon fund so the saving is well underway.

There's just so many things we are having to think about and save up for at the moment, but I keep thinking WDW will always be there and I know we will be back one day. The waiting is soooo hard though!
