Thanks for all your information, but from what I've read, I'm not sure that DVC is for us right now. As much as I love Disney, I guess I would like the freedom to visit other places as well. And from what I have read, if you don't plan on visiting Disney at least every other year than it's not worth buying into.
But after staying at the Beach Club for our honeymoon and having daily access to the Yacht club conceriage (sorry, sp) during that trip, it will be hard staying at the ASMO in Nov. But I'm a SAHM now so it's all about a shift in my priorities!
Anyway-we are planning a trip in the next year or two with my bil who will only stay at the Epcot deluxe resorts, so I wanted to know where I could find out about renting points so that we could stay in the BCV or BWV's? And would this be less expensive then just calling up and making a regular reservation at the BWV's?
Thanks!
Crissy:)

mickerbaby, if you go to the Rent/Trade forum on these boards you can find many people willing to rent points and if you read the forum faq sheet you will find some good info. Also, there is a point calculator on the main Dis page that is very helpful in figuring how many points you would need for the time of year and number of days you want to rent. Points generally rent for $10 a point, so you can get an estimate of how much money your talking about. For instance if you arrive on Sat. June 8 and stay for 7 nights at Beach Club Villas in a studio you would need 134 points. If you avoided the sat. and fri. nites that are in that time frame you would save 64 points. Weekend points are quite high. Anyway you can play with the point calculator and find out just how many points it will take for the time you have in mind.
Hope this helps.

I don't want to confuse you, but renting points for a studio for a week will cost you 134 pts X $10=$1340, and you could have paid a substantial amount of your contract for that money. But an alternative would be to become an annual passport member and get their discounts. It depends upon the time of year, but you can usually get them if you aren't going during the busy holiday season at Christmas and Easter. For example, last summer we got our studio with maid service for $198 per night during the summer months, and a one bedroom this year is $260. At Christmas we got our one bedroom at BWV for $233, but that was after 9-11, so that will probably never happen again. This summer you can also stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge for $125 per night if you are an annual passport holder, and two years ago at spring break we stayed at Caribbean Beach for $89 per night. One person in your family will have to buy the passport in order to get those rates. You can also get 10% off on food at many of the restaurants, so it's an excellent value.

We want happy members and DVC is not be right for everyone. Just make sure that you've considered your options as it appears from your note that DVC might in deed be right for you. Why not consider buying less points and traveling every other year or so. Then you can pay cash or look at other alternatives for the off years. Consider looking for an OKW or BW resale for minimum points (150).
