what are the best restaurants at each park that are not that expensive and are still sit down restaurants?:Pinkbounc

I really hate to say it, but all of the sit down resteraunts we ate in were on the high side. Burgers and fries for 14 etc.. to me even the counter service was high family of 5 usually getting 4 meals and 2 large sodas around 40.

We find an easy way to keep expenses down is to split meals. The portions are usually pretty substantial at most WDW restaurants, and the CMs won't even bat an eye if you tell them you'd like to split something.

Try the Plaza Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom - great sandwhiches and stuff and very good prices.

At Epcot, we think the lunch buffet at the Biergarten is a great value! The food is yummy and the atmosphere is so much fun.

There really aren't any sit-downs at the Animal Kingdom (other than Rainforest Cafe), but the counter service isn't bad. We like Chakranadi Chicken shop best.

We don't eat at MGM often, but we've found Hollywood and Vine to be a pretty good deal.

I have to agree, that food at WDW is high, but not too bad, as you get large portions, and it is definitely comparable in price to other entertainment establishments that serve food, and the quality is usually much better!

We never eat sit down at MK... we usually eat at Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays.

At MGM, we like 50's Primetime, but if you go to Mama Melrose, you can split a salad and a flatbread pizza for a very reasonable price!

At AK, there are no sitdown restaurants, but Tusker House is very good!

At Epcot, we just try to eat our big meals at lunch, when the prices are a bit lower... some of our favorites are Le Cellier, Tempura Kiku, and San Angel Inn.

Go to www.wdwig.com and look at the menus so you can plan your budget.

We thought we were really going to break the bank with all our 5 character meals and 6 other sit-downs, but the portions were so big that we didn't spend as much as we'd anticipated. When we went to Boma for 10:30 b-fast, we didn't want lunch or supper. We had snacks (pb sandwich, cereal, or just milk) when we got back to the condo that night. We didn't want to flesh out the dining with counter service. We split meals unless it was all you can eat.

I have to agree that The Plaza Restaurant is an excellent choice at MK. I enjoyed Restaurant Akerhaus at Epcot, it's buffet style. And Mama Melrose can be less expensive if you stick to the pizzas.

We just got back from our trip today.

We tried THE PLAZA at MK, as other posters recommended it, I do also. Of all of the times we've been to this park I have never eaten here til Friday. I thought it was good a quite reasonable and for a full service restaurant it was fairly quick. Would definitely go back again.

We also tried MAMA MELROSE at MGM, another pleasant surprise. We actually had dodged out of the PACKED Osborne lights to try this. I had a delicious Flatbread Pizza with Portabello mushrooms, onions and asiago cheese (in exchange for sausage) and a mozzarella & Tomato appetizer. DD had a kid's pizza but didn't like it, our server exchanged it out for chicken nuggets within like 2 minutes. If I didn't splurge on the 2 glasses of wine it would have been quite reasonable. Would definitely go back.

Oh, we did go back to the Osborn lights after we ate, MUCH BETTER, barely anyone there:) (good to know for next year)

And, I also recommend Tusker House at MK. It is not a "sit down" restaurant but the food tastes like it is:)
