Has anyone ever heard of or actually reserved a campsite to get resort priveleges and then not stayed at the site...just used the priveleges...like the extra hours and free parking? Does that actually work?

i don't see why not. strange, but i don't see why not.

This topic was discussed previously on this forum - you can do a search and find it. You are opening a real Pandora's box. Personally, I find it unethical and selfish to tie up a spot at the campground when so many people are having difficulty reserving spots they intend to actually use. I will say no more about this, since I can get myself into trouble and I don't want to use my get out of jail free card Rhonda gave me.

how'd you get that?

Unfortunately, you can't stop free enterprise.

I must be crazy(now..remember your manners guys!;) )...but is it really worth it to pay a nightly site rate for the extra hour a park might be open and for the parking? I guess I haven't paid for parking in quite a while, but is it very expensive? It isn't included with a park hopper? I thought when you purchased a Park pass it included all transportation on Disney property. Parking is extra? I guess this there is always going to be someone who is going to do it.

i don't think you are crazy auntie, just skeptical.
as are I

I had just read that in a trip planning site and wondered if anyone actually did that...I don't know that much about Disney...we're getting ready to plan a trip and I am reading all the "stuff" that's out there...
explain to me why it is unethical...if you were to pay for the site...who cares if you actually lay your head down there to sleep at night...if you were to use it during the day???
Parking last year was $10/day and you get an extra 4 hours at the park...I would think that to be worth $40/day for the campsite.
I'll do a search again to see what else has been posted...couldn't find anything before, but I"ll try again if you thinks there's something

They have $40.00 campsites? I need one of those. I guess they might be for a tent site in value season. Unless you are staying with friends you can get pretty close in price by staying on site at a value hotel with all the transportation.

We average $35 a night on a partial in value season with AAA rate. Even then it doesn't make financial sense to spend money somewhere else (I guess that's what this is about? Stay offsite in a cheap hotel and get onsite benefits by getting a campsite too?). I agree with you, after you spend money on the campsite and another room somewhere, you might as well stay at a value resort or, here's a novel idea, camp.

Never heard of this, I guess you could, but I don't really see it being worth it. But it's up to you, if you want to, it's your choice.

Is the AAA discount the best? We're passholders and for memorial day, they are getting us for like $80 a night

Thanks for all of your replies...what you all have said makes total sense...except we won a free week at an offisite resort...nothing else...just the room for a week and are going to Disney 3-4 days on our own...would rather stay on site, but didn't work out that way this trip...like I said...just read this somewhere and thought it fit the bill for this trip...oh by the way I just called reservations and campsites don't seem to be hard to get...I could even book one during Memorial Day weekend????? For a site with just water and electric it was $55...to me still worth it to spen an extra 4 hours at the parks and w/ $10 parking knocked off...$45/day or for us $11.25/person it is worth it...and we can still enjoy the campground facilities throughout the day and evening.

Online states no sites available for memorial day weekend.

Yea, I would be VERY surprised if you could find anything available for Memorial Day Weekend in the campsites, it's been sold out for a while. Unless something just happened to open up. In fact, it's even sold out for the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day weekend...lol

this thread has jumped the shark. lock it up

Anybody remember..."I'm a Baaaaddddd Boy"

You all don't want to know what I'm doing.

AAA plus magic your way works out better for us than annual passes. Are your passes Florida resident? If I'm not mistaken that and regular APs are supposedly the best of all the discounts (except CM). The $35 is for value season which is when we usually go, we were looking at the 50's for 4th of July and with many calls back couldn't get AAA. Is $80 for a partial hook-up? Someone should come to your campsite and cook you breakfast for that.

Where's the jump the shark smilie :confused3 ?

"jump the shark"

a term used when a tv show (or anything else anymore) has stopped being entertaining or usefull and is just being silly or pointless.

the term jump the shark is litteraly from the happy days episode where fonzie jumped the shark tank on his motorcycle. it was pathetic and the show should have just ended before it got that bad, but it straggled on even after that. it was a pale and poor reflection of what it once was.

there is a website http://www.jumptheshark.com/index.jspa where you can see if/when your fav show "jumped the shark."
