Sorry!!!! I know there have been many phone questions. Does anyone have straight talk? My sister is going to give my son her iphone 4 and I was going to try straight talk. My Dh and I only use pay as you go phones, so we don't have a family contract and are not planning on getting one. Ds will really use the internet the most, he does not call or text much. So is straight talk my best option for bring your own phone plan? :thanks:

I love straight talk. I've had it for 26 months. My sister gave me her old Iphone 4 and I bought a ST sim. Very easy and I've been happy with their service. I've heard horror stories about customer service, but when I've had to call my problems have been resolved quickly. If you pay annually, you basically get one month free. I keep wanting to upgrade my phone (to an Iphone 6), but what I have works fine and the battery holds really well so I'm holding off.

All that said, I'm seriously considering switching to Ting soon. Right now it's probably a wash for just one line, but if I add my kids (they're 10 and 11 and don't have phones yet), Ting would likely be much cheaper. I wish straight talk had a discount for more than one line.

It's been a while. I think I bought the sim online and then went to their website to activate the phone and that gave me the new number. The website is pretty helpful.

http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans Thanks to other Dis members we learned about the $30 T-mobile bring your own phone plan. (scroll down.. it's in small print toward the bottom of the page.) DD also has an iphone 4. You need to buy a t-mobile SIM but the rest can be done online. We had a lot of trouble because we were trying to port a number from Tracfone. (It was eventually successful after many phone calls.) It should be easy if you are doing it with a new number. Unlimited data and text, 100 talk minutes, no contract.
