Not another passport question!?

We were planning on driving from Ottawa (in March) until about 30 minutes ago when I logged on to find that we can travel on AC for $352.00CAD including taxes . We don't have passports and am alittle aprehensive about booking airfare because of the long line-ups reported and am not sure how much of a lead time we need .

Do you think the line-ups reported are those people who are trying to get their passports before the January cut off date? I am hoping they will go down after that date .

How long does it take to get a passport? Do we have lots of time, we are travelling March 14th.

Do you have to go in to the passport office to drop the application off AND go in to the office to pick up the passport?

We will have to book fast as these airfares are the best I have seen in along time. Thanks.

Here in Nova Scotia we can just go the the passport office in Halifax and have them in our hand at that time. Beforehand, we just have our papers all filled out and notarized (our school prinicpal does ours), pics in hand and we're good go!

I haven't ran into anyone yet that has had a problem, infact everyone I know and have talked too here has done it this way.

Hello! I am new to the Canadian board but I hope I can help you. We are flying to Disneyland on March 12th so I know there is still time to get your passports done. We were just at the Passport office in Calgary...we had to wait 2 hours to get everything done, but it was worth it since they check everything for you and you pay and then you know for sure everything was done right and you won't have any delay in getting your passport. The lady told us that we should receive our passports at the end of Jan..so about 4 weeks including canada post time! You don't have to pick up your passport at the office, they mail them to you. Hope this helps.
