Ok 1st of all, I'm not stirring up trouble. I bought transfers from Amymickey (loved them!) and we made 54 shirts (we are a group of 9 and we made shirts for 6 days).

So I showed these to my neighbors who told me today she was talking to her mom about the shirts. Her mom said her friend had embroidered designs on shirts and her family was not allowed in the park because they weren't "official designs."

Ok, I'm am FAR from gullible, and this sounds like such a rumor. But I figured if anyone had heard such rumors or stories in the past and knew the real deal, it would be you guys.

Even though I don't expect a lick of problems, I have to admit it does make me a touch nervous.

Anybody know the real deal??

By the way, we are leaving tomorrow! YAYAYAYAYAYA!

I wouldn't panic. We have worn "home made" Disney shirts at the parks and on the cruise line and all we hear from the CMs is how cool they are and neat design. Never have we been told to change our shirt or not to wear them. I mean, you could throw in a few Disney brand shirts or plain ol' tshirts for "just in case", but I REALLY don't think you'll have a problem!

Have a Magical Time!!! :wizard:

We make our own Disney t's every year forever and have never had a problem getting into the parks.

thanks, I understand the personal use thing and that makes sense to me (as long as you aren't selling them it's ok)

but you know, it's easy to freak a little right before the trip. this person's mother is usually negative anyway, so I'm not surprised she had that story to share.

thanks! I was just looking for a little reassurance.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. All I ask is that you save some Dole Whips for us cuz we will be there in a week!!!!!

Don't they sell the kits that you can hook up to your embrodery machine? I know that I have seen them at our local JoAnns store. It can't be illegal if you can buy the part that makes them.

BTW - Really take the advice and don't eat all the Dole Whips. We will be there Monday!! So if you see a bunch of crazy people (13 ages 10 months to 52) walking around in homemade Disney shirts, stop us and say hi!!

You have nothing to worry about!!!

unless they have a bunch of CMs with photographic memories to memorize all of the Disney licensed shirts, I don't think it will be a problem!:santa:
I will be gettin my Dole whips in 8 days too!! Maybe we will see each others homemade shirts!.

How could each CM know every single licensed Disney design of all time (vintage to today) and all outlets (EuroDisney, Target, Disney Store)? No worries!! We wore our homemade shirts all over the World in May and will be wearing them in December!!

 Great minds...make homemade Disney shirts!

The ONLY way i can see her story to be true.. was if the designs were anti-disney or showed disney in a bad light.

Thats the only thing i could think that they might have a problem with..

You'll have no problem.. Have fun!

I made embroidered shirts and we all wore them with no problem whatsoever all 5 days.

You will be just fine. I just sent my friend's DS a Disney jacket my DS had outgrown. I bought it at the Disney Store, but she said her Disney Store never had any jackets like that. There is NO WAY anyone working at the parks could know EVERY official Disney product since products vary by region.
We made our own shirts for my birthday trip 2 years ago, and our friends ordered customized shirts from the Disney website for the same trip. Hanes just opened a shop in DTD where you design and print your own shirts!

Have a fabulous time and wear your shirts proudly! :thumbsup2

This.

Maybe there was something less than flattering about the t-shirts- but every day here on the DIS there are new threads and pics of people wearing their home made designs into the parks, having their pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers and with characters. I'd say you're fine and have FUN!

There are sewing machines that are called disney brother sewing machines. I have one.

We've been here all week and besides wearing our own homemade shirts, we're seeing a LOT of others wearing designs they obviously made as well......and the only thing CMs are saying are things like "cute" and "cool" and "did you make that".

And I've seen some shirts that frankly I would have preferred HAD been stopped from coming in.....innuendo about the 7 dwarfs and another of grumpy giving the bird!!!!!

I wish THOSE had been stopped at the gate.

Wear your homemade shirts with great pride and be prepared to have many CMs and guests pay you compliments.

Oh My! I would think a shirt w/ a character of any kind "giving the bird" would not be appropriate for Disney! I would think shirts w/ expletives or suggestive pictures would not be allowed! We are going for the first time next year- I hope my kids don't see things like THAT at Disney!
