Not a Sci-Fi fan. Should I just try harder?

Not the restaurant, the genre. I mean I can't get into Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel, etc. (Except Avatar. I loooooved that movie. Imagine my joy at AK these days). But now that so much is going into these franchises at WDW, I'm wondering if I'm being stupid by saying "I have no interest. Y'all enjoy your Jedi Training." If you just aren't into something, do you make yourself check out the related attractions anyway? Or do you just admit that WDW has something for everyone and it's okay that you don't know a Groot from a Wookie? Don't kill me. If it matters, we go pretty much every year, but we're not local.

Its okay to not like the movies. My take on this would be go into the attractions with an open mind. Something like Pandora you don't need to watch the movie to enjoy that land. You shouldn't need to watch all the star wars movies to enjoy that land either. I say still check out the attractions because they may surprise you even if you don't like the genre.

I'm like you, OP. Not a fan of the genre. But I rode GOTG at DCA and had a lot of fun. I don't feel the emotional connection like I do on attractions related to movies I like, but still had fun.

Still, I wouldn't wait in a long line for one of these without a FP or schedule a trip just to experience them. Honestly, Pandora, Star Wars and Marvel excite me about as much as the stuff at Universal. And I haven't been there in over a decade. If I was at Universal, I imagine I'd ride some of that stuff and have fun. But it just doesn't give me the drive to get over there.

I thought Avatar was only an okay movie, but still loved FOP. So, I don't think you necessarily have to love the movies or genre to enjoy the attractions. I definitely wouldn't count any of them out completely without at least trying once.

I'd still give the rides themselves a try (FoP is a prime example of how hating the movie doesn't translate into a terrible ride), but I'd certainly skip things like Launch Bay or whatever else. That's just less crowds for you.

Me too.

Although I wouldn't waste my time on watching Avatar again, so it didn't even hit "okay" on the scale.

I am with you OP. My son loves Star Wars and had a ball at Launch Bay meeting Chewbacca and Kylo and messing with the JAWAs (wish they were still there). I enjoyed his enjoyment, but have no desire to go there without him. I will probably check out the new area after the first year of craziness wears down, but will not make a point to go there unless my now adult son wants to make a trip with me again.

Now Toy Story Land is a different animal. I made a trip in July staying club level to check that land out. We have always been a Toy Story family and I love the bright colors and can't wait to get there. I will play there while everyone else goes to do Star Wars.:p
