I've been listening to the radio for hours on end every day while I'm working on my craft projects and there's one song that I've heard at least 3 times a day.. (I'm a c/w fan..)

I think the title is "She Can't Be Really Gone" and this guy is singing the blues over his wife leaving him.. He's making a mental note of all the reasons she can't be gone "for good" and they consist of:

She left behind the hat she bought in Mexico that blocks out the sun..

The shoes she bought on Christmas Eve that she said "called her name" are still waiting by the door "for her to slip them on"..

And here's the real kicker:

The book that she was reading is still on the bed - "the two of hearts to mark her page in chapter 21" - so "who could ever walk away at chapter 21"?

-------------

So - if you were leaving your DH, would you be SURE to bring your "hat to block the sun; "the shoes that screamed your name"; and "your book with the two of hearts to mark your place at chapter 21"???? :rotfl:

You have to admit - some of these c/w songs tell some interesting stories..:rotfl::rotfl:

I think if I were to leave I would throwm my purse, my dog, my favorite jeans and my laptop into my Jeep. Put on my baseball cap, take all the windows out,hit the road at 55mph and follow the sun. :cool2: No fancy shoes. And he can take the library book back himself.

That song is by Tim McGraw and my take on the song is that she died and didn't just leave him.

The hat is out-of-date, those shoes are soooooooooooo last season and the book was a bore, like the husband.

:lmao:

In my case, I ran like heck with the clothes on my back (which were my pajamas)...in the middle of the night...in the rain.

I think if you watch the video it was devoted to Tim McGraws mom who died of cancer.

I'd take my kid, my sock monkey jammies and one of my dogs. She is technically mine since she was a bday present. Besides he can have the one that eats crap.

I haven't heard that one. It could go either way, but he does say that he's seen the error of his ways. :confused3

:rotfl:

That reminds me every time I hear the Toby Keith song "Dreamwalkin'" with the following lyrics:

She left a yellow rose and a long neck bottle
On a table beside my bed
With a short little note said I had a good time
It was written in lipstick red
She didn't sign her name I wonder
If that's a little secret that she keeps
Ooo she's walkin' around in my sleep

Now, I've known some pretty promiscuous people in my life but I don't think any of them have ever spent the night with someone that they didn't even know their first name. I mean that's usually the first thing someone tells you.:confused3 And they certainly didn't carry roses around with them "just in case" ;)

I don't think it's about her leaving him, it's about her dying. And I thought I read somewhere it was dedicated to his mother or a close family member.

I always thought it was about her leaving him. I guess it was the "I've seen the error of my ways" line. But it does make sense either way.

Well I heard it twice again today - listened very carefully - and all of you are right - it could be "either" way..

But for the heck of it, let's pretend his wife just up and walked out on him..

What would you be sure to take? Although I'm a widow now, the first thing that comes to mind for me (aside from financial stuff) is my computer.. LOL..

Maybe even the book - if it was a really good one!! :rotfl:

I THINK you've just written a new C/W song right here!

What would I take? My handbag collection and my Ugg boots.

I would have my kids, both of my dogs. And then I would get all of my scrapbooks.
