not a good thing,,,,

Funny how they don't list the other people that were arrested for the same thing or the companies that they work for :sad2:

Not to start a problem, but hoping to explain.... I work for "the media" and unfortunately I see too many of these stories. Generally speaking, the occupation of the suspect is given and most especially if it has ANYTHING to do with children- such as a teacher or coach. I do think saying that he was a "jungle cruise operator" was a bit much, but I can understand them mentioning that he was a disney park employee. I don't necessarily agree with the policy, but having worked in the news for 15 years now, I understand why it is given. People (viewers on a general basis) want to know that information.

please don't flame me, just trying to put my input in. :scared:

In my opinion....people don't WANT to know in particular where they work but the media uses it as a head line so the general public will buy that paper just to see what a Disney employee was arrested for. If the guy worked for GM or even Six Flags it wouldn't have made headlines.

I absolutely agree, as if the crime wasn't bad enough, being a Disney employee just ups the shock value.

Aren't "people" also the "general public"? If folks don't want to know, why would they be more likely to buy the paper?

So the fact that this guy works for Disney makes it worse than anyone else that was arrested? Shock value sells newspapers I guess.

Given the the crime he was charged with, yes, it does in fact make it worse that he works for Disney. It makes it worse that he works in any venue that gives him access to children. No one is blaming Disney. If he has no prior convictions, then there is no way that Disney could or should have known before hiring him.

In my opinion, noting that he works for Disney provides a public service. Too may people choose to believe that they are immune to ugly things like child predators while at the most magical place on earth. Child predators often seek employment in exactly those places that will give them frequent contact with children. While that most likely won't be the pool they choose their victims from, they still take a preverse enjoyment from just being around them.

If you, as a parent, choose to allow your 13, 14 or 15 year old to wander freely while at WDW, that is your decision to make. Just please don't believe that they are safer at WDW than they are at your local mall or anyplace else.
