Not A Debate Board Request, But How About A Political Board?

I understand that the Debate Board is gone, but could we create a board where those who are so inclined to post about political, Iraq War, election and international affairs can post, so that those of us who are not interested don't have to deal with those types of posts cluttering up the CB?

I count a total of 50 threads up at a time. The breakdown right now is:

2 Political
10 word games
6-8 groups (Ya Yas etc) tag fairy
2-3 jokes or just for laughs stuff
Several questions
Several Request for prayers
Several statements about something that happened.

I really don't understand this line of thinking.

If you are not interested in "those types of posts" the solution is simple. Don't read them.

If I had a dime, no wait, make that a penny, for every post that I wasn't interested in I would be so wealthy as to be receiving w's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans! Well, until they are repealed that is.

Since I'm in analytical mode 17, or approximately, a third of all threads up at a time have over 300 responses to them. That means they are long time threads like games or groups where a select number of people post very consistently. They are fun for the people who participate but skipped over by those of us who don't participate yet they take up a third of the viewing area on page one.

Point is not every post is for everyone. One posters clutter is another posters draw to the DIS.

Liberals Political board
Conservative Political board
and a
I swing different ways on different days political board.

Only those agreeing with a particular political philosophy could participate. You'll get a lot of ITA's but there wouldn't be much fighting.

Think of the possibilities...

No, no, no. I think we would need more specification when it came to the boards. What we should do is break it down by issue.

You know,

Gun Regulation - Liberal
Gun Regulation - Conservative
Gun Regulation - Not Sure
Gun Regulation - Other

Abortion - Liberal
Abortion - Conservative
Abortion - Not Sure
Abortion - Other

Etc., etc., etc.

I haven't seen any political debate on this thread. They are debating what kind of boards would be required to meet the OPs request. Nothing wrong with that. I personally don't see a need for a "political" board. I like things the way they are now

I just want to have fun. I am tired of the political threads. Just my humble opinion.....

Gosh, doesn't this say it all? At the time of this analysis, 4%...yep a whopping 4%...of the threads were political. We must really be getting in the way.

Sorry for the sarcasm. It's not like the DB'ers ASKED to infiltrate the CB. Let it drop people. I don't see any DB'ers posting new threads complaining about all of the PD they have to wade through to find their debates.

Sure. Politics board. Before you know it, an abortion thread will start. Then the pro-lifers and pro-choicers start calling each other bleeding heart libs and evil conservatives, and then all of a sudden, it termed a political debate. Obviously, it must be moved to the "politics" board. Sounds an awful lot like the ol' DB, eh?

To those of you who agree, thanks for the support of my idea.

Basically, I don't see what the difference is between not having a Debate Board and having the debates come to the CB, but, who am I, I guess????

I figured that since we had boards for Transportation, DVC, Scrapbooking and other specific themes, that politis/current events would work too.

So sorry for posting a thought or suggestion.

ITA! As others have said, if you don't like the post, don't read it. Most former DB-ers have cooperated in putting "DEBATE:" in the title (although why that is necessary is beyond me).

The CB is an open forum. Can't we all just get along?

I don't believe anyone is looking for an apology for posting a thought or suggestion. What is odd is the complaint that debates or political threads are cluttering up the CB, when in reality they account for less than 4% of the total threads. That leaves 96% of the threads full of fluff, PD, hugs, and other typical CB stuff. It's funny but I don't see former DB-ers on here complaining that they have to wade through oceans of fluff and PD to find "their" threads.

The CB is like a popular pool at Disney ... there are lots of different people who want to swim and we all have to learn to do some give and take to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.
