Are their packages worth the cost of membership?

We have booked from Costco travel for the past few years. We have enjoyed having the Character dining certificates. $45 per person. We don't have little ones anymore so we just use them in the park. We have booked Disney properties so we have also received a gift card to spend in the park as well. Amounts depend on how many nights you stay.

This is from their site...

I have priced them for staying off site, and it is not a great deal. I found better deals on my own at places closer to the entrance. Tickets I get at a discount from lmtclub.

I'm a member and I've been able to get a better discount booking accommodations on or off site on my own as well as tickets. However, I met a family at rd several years ago and they got an amazing deal through Costco for tickets and an on-site hotel. I haven't yet found a deal with Costco like this, but they are there sometimes.

Next year's package no longer gives out $45 character dining cards. Instead, it's replaced with a Photopass package.

  • Disney Gift Card valued at up to $150 (one per package, value based on length of stay, accommodations at a Disneyland® Resort Hotel required)
  • Disney PhotoPass Collection valued at up to $99 (one per package, includes a product code for Digital downloads of all Disney PhotoPass photos in your account at time of redemption, a voucher for a Dining Print Package, and the Disneyland Resort Gallery Disc featuring more than 350 high-resolution professional photos from around Disneyland® Resort)
  • Disneyland® Resort Photo 5x7 Print by Disney's PhotoPass™ Service (one per package)
  • Magical Extras Savings Card valid at select Downtown Disney dining and shopping locations (one card per room, per stay)
  • 15 percent discount on the Disneyland® Resort Park tour Walk in Walt's Footsteps
  • Collectible Disney pin with matching luggage tag and lanyard (one per person)

The $5 rotisserie chicken is worth the cost of membership but the Disneyland packages are not a good deal anymore. AAA or using a Disney deal is best for Disney hotels but Groupon and direct have been best for me at off site locations
Those chickens are delicious!

see I got hooked on a costco membership based on car rental deals....(the first one I used, saved me like 3 years worth of membership fees value!) and stuck with them b/c of all the organic high quality foods for discounts! I never thought I'd pay for a membership to shop but I love Costco! I can't see any great disney deals tho....I wish!

We booked when they had a promotion for staying a 4th night free, so that helped offset any lower costs we could have gotten on our own. We also have a family of 4 and planned to do character dining and having almost $200 free to put towards that was good enough for us!
Some of the favored hotels aren't available through them, though, and that was disappointing.

Are their packages worth the cost of membership?

You can always purchase a membership and see for yourself. If you don't like what you see, you can go to Customer Service at any Costco to get a full refund of your membership fee.

I don't know anything about Costco's Disney packages but Costco in general is awesome. We do all of our shopping there. I love Costco.
