Nory Report III: In the Third Person! After 3 Years, the Final Update! NEW 2/6

That hammock is comfy!!!!

I believe that is Kathy's hammock.;)

The rooms at CSR always look so nice. I always thought they were "Deluxes-In-Disguise" for the longest time. I mean, those beds are big for Moderates and look beautiful. I've seen some Deluxes with not nearly as nice beds. And, look it, you got a WATER VIEW! I think CSR understood you more than POR :thumbsup2

The Hammock looks very nice and you get a nice view of the water. If I had a headache in Disney, definitely something I would do. Just lay down for a while in a nice hammock *sigh*

What were those workers doing? I think that may be the strangest thing I've ever heard for Disney resort workers to be doing. I am completely befuddled. Usually, Disney resort workers are well... WORKING nonetheless.

Can't wait to read about your adventures in EPCOT! :mickeyjum

Nory, if your ever at CSR again, be sure to ask for a corner room so you can have more natural light in the room. With two windows it makes for a bright and beautiful room. I love the CSR newly decorated rooms. :cloud9:

Can't wait to find out where Nory's eating in EPCOT. :goodvibes

Ooohh...I've been waiting for you get to the CSR portion of your trip! :goodvibes I've stayed there twice now (and as of last week) the Beach Club once and I think that CSR holds up quite well against its more expensive competition. And I, too, love the decor. It is a beautiful resort and I have a feeling, too, that part of the reason why it feels so quiet and relaxed is due to all the convention go-ers. You took such pretty pictures, too! :thumbsup2

Great update! I can't wait to check out CSR next month :cool1:
You're going to love it!

CSR looks gorgeous! Hope you get to enjoy that hammock!
Will I get to enjoy the hammock? This TR is sure chock-full of suspense, isn't it? :rotfl:

It is Kat's hammock...luckily, she's nice enough to share! :goodvibes

Yes, CSR was much more "me", that's for sure! And the bedding was way nicer than the bedding at WL.

Oh, they were definitely working -- there was a whole team of them, with one person in charge who was clearly coordinating the whole thing...it was just so weird, though!

Great tip about the corner room!

Thanks, Tina! I'm currently deciding if I can swing a quick little 2-night stay in early September, and I was thinking I'd stay at the Poly (ultimate convenience ends up pretty important when you're only there for two nights!), but now that the monorail isn't running during EMH, I'm having trouble justifying it and might just go with CSR again to save the $$$.

What a beautiful room and resort. That hammock looks very relaxing!
Just thinking about that hammock makes me want to be in it right now!

I just read your whole TR and I must say it is very entertaining. I like the way your updates are arranged, I like the whole third person thing, and I LOVE your pictures. They are really breathtaking.

Did you decide to stay at three different resorts on purpose? Was that part of your research? I think its a cool thing to do. I imagine it was much easier being that you were alone and on your own schedule.

Looking forward to more!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in, Mary Ellen! And thanks for the compliments!

I decided to stay at two resorts on purpose -- my original plan was to spend one night at CSR, and two nights at the Poly. I've made it my mission to stay at all the WDW resorts (it's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it!), so I try to squeeze two into each trip if I can...I really enjoy getting to stay at different places and mix things up, even if it's in a short trip. And while I knew it'd be a bit of a pain to resort hop in only three nights, I also could only justify the Poly prices for two nights! And then the third resort happened when I decided to add a night onto the beginning of my trip...I couldn't get another night at CSR with my AP discount, so I went with POR because I think it was one of the only Mods available at that point (it was a little last minute; I would've preferred staying at a Mod I hadn't been at before).

Wow, that was a really long explanation for something really simple! :rotfl:

Nory took a picture of my hammock. :goodvibes Thank you so much Nory (63 more days until I'm in my hammock).

Nory, you got some absolutely wondeerful pictures of the CSR and I thank you for sharing them.

Nory got a great room location (one of our favorites).

Beautiful pictures of CSR Nory! You did a great job capturing the beauty of the grounds and the inside room picture looks great as well. That hammock does look soooooo inviting. Good to see you got that water view done right.

63 days! That's not long at all!

Thanks, clearskies! There are many more to come...I took a ton of CSR pics the following day!

pretty pretty rooms! What holds me back from CSR is 2 things. One it's always been booked anytime I've checked. 2, it looks stinking HUGE and all that walking (if not enroute to a park) has been a bit of a deterrent to me.

I don't think it's too much bigger than a lot of the other resorts, and I actually liked the way the spread-out-ness of it added to the peacefulness. But I have to admit that I was there with perfect weather...not hot, not cold. I might have felt differently if it'd been really hot and my room had been in the farthest-away section!

Ahhhhh, CSR...so pretty. I hope you enjoyed your stay there and got time to relax in Kathy's hammock!

I could really use some hammock-time right now!

Nory, I have sad news. We will NOT be staying at CSR this trip. We got a great offer -- FREE POINTS -- to stay at Old Key West so we are trying something new.

Well, you certainly can't say no to free points! It'll be good to have an excuse to try something new, right? OKW always intrigues me...you'll have to let me know how it compares!

By 11:30, Nory was once again walking through Future World, weaving her way through the crowds—more sizable than she’d seen them in her past few trips—on her way to collect a fastpass for Soarin’, Epcot’s most popular ride. She knew from experience that the wait in the standby line would be far too long by this time of morning, and that the fastpasses for the day would disappear by sometime in the afternoon; there was no time to delay.

As she hustled up the long ramp to The Land building, she was behind a mother talking to her two daughters, and she couldn’t help but overhear.

“Girls, I don’t know if we’re going to get to ride Soarin’, if the wait’s too long…it closes at seven tonight,” the mother said.

Her daughters started whining about how much they wanted to ride.

Nory wasn’t sure if she should say anything. But she wanted to be helpful, so she decided, what the heck.

“Excuse me,” she said to the mother, “but I couldn’t help overhearing…I thought you might want to know that Soarin’ stays open until nine. I think Future World in general stays open until nine now, though some of the less popular rides probably still close early.” She hoped she hadn’t veered too far into know-it-all territory.

“No, that’s not right,” said the mother. “It said up front that it closes at seven.”

Oh no, did I get my information wrong? thought Nory. Have they not started staying open late yet? I could swear that they had…

“Well,” Nory said, “one way or the other, I promise Soarin’ stays open ‘til nine. Have a great trip!” Then she walked off ahead.

Nory entered The Land building and paused in front of the colorful hot air balloons suspended from its domed ceiling, preparing herself for the mild stress to come. She followed the circular ramp down to the left, descended the long flight of stairs, and expertly dodged the hordes of people at the bottom who were exiting the ride, stepping onto the escalator, or just milling around, waiting to eat at Sunshine Seasons or for their fastpass times to open up. The Soarin’ entrance area was always, always, a mob scene. Finally, she stood in front of the fastpass machines.

3:45, not bad, she thought. Maybe she’d even get another one, later on, if she was lucky and they didn’t disappear in the next two hours.

Then she turned around and reversed her path: through the mob, up the stairs, along the circular path to the right, past the hot air balloons, through the sliding glass doors, and back out into the Florida sunshine.

Her head still bothered her a little, and she thought some food might help. After all, she really hadn’t eaten anything all day. She didn’t want to ruin her lunch—she had scored a lunch reservation at Le Cellier, one of Disney’s most popular restaurants—but that wasn’t until one; a little appetizer from one of the Food & Wine booths surely wouldn’t hurt.

On her way into the World Showcase, she stopped at a Festival stand to procure a little prepaid gift card, meant to wear on your wrist, since one had proved very convenient at the Festival the year before. She also looked over the Food & Wine pins, since she bought a pin for every special event she attended, as well as for each resort she stayed at (her pin collection was growing rapidly). Nory didn’t really like the pin selection this year—they all looked a bit junky to her—but she bought one, anyway. The CM who rang her up told her to be sure to hang on to her receipt, just in case she lost her gift card, and Nory crumpled it into the bottom of her purse.

She headed for Canada. If my lunch is in Canada, she thought, then a snack from the Canada booth definitely won’t ruin it, right? The Food & Wine kiosk had no line at all, and within moments Nory was enjoying every sip of a rich, peppery, cheddar cheese soup.

Her headache felt better immediately, and she enjoyed soaking in the warmth of the soup and the warmth in the air, looking out over the lagoon as it sparkled in the sunshine.

Sounds like you started off a nice morning in Future World! (: Nice to see your headache is going away and you managed to grab an FP for Soarin' almost into the afternoon :thumbsup2 Hopefully you gave that lady the right information about Future World being open, but I don't think I've ever seen FW close that early :confused3

Oh I love the pin you got! So nice. I like how it has the EPCOT ball acting as a cover for the chocolate cake. And lucky you for getting a reservation at Le Cellier. I've heard it's tough to fit in a reservation there :teeth: And that cheddar cheese soup looks very nice and what a nice time to eat it when looking over the World Showcase Lagoon :goodvibes

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I love when you try to help someone but the people you are trying to help don't believe you.

I got the Figment F&W pin. The cheese soup from Canada, :thumbsup2 great choice.
