Nory Report III: In the Third Person! After 3 Years, the Final Update! NEW 2/6

What an awesome decision Nory made. The night sounded perfect and that you had fun!!!!

I agree. Sometimes its just better to ride the rides when no one is one them. Denny and I did that when we attended a sold out Christmas party and it was pretty cool. :thumbsup2

I'm loving all of the non existent ride lines. Plus your descriptions are definitely setting up a spooky mood. Can't wait to see if your plan with the Haunted Mansion works out. popcorn::

Yeah, I'm really glad I did that. I mean, I love the Halloween parade, but I had seen it before, and it was so nice to feel like I had the rides practically to myself!

You'll find out soon...I'm almost to the end of the night already! The last night of this trip! That means this TR, after 3 long years, is almost over! :rotfl:

I think Nory made a great decision to skip the parade and instead get her rides in.

The pictures are beautiful; and :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: for extra candy the second line Nory went to.

Feeling so content, so peaceful, and so creative, Nory decided not to push things. She didn’t really need to ride anything else and risk screwing up the timing of her final-ride plan. She decided to just walk around for an hour, soak up the atmosphere, revel in the rapidly-emptying park beneath the glowing full moon.

And to jump in every treat line she passed.

By 11:45, her candy bag was heavy. She did her best to loiter, not wanting to get into the Haunted Mansion line too early. But finally she gave in, and entered the queue.

Again, Nory lingered in the stretching room, but the Ring-like CM wasn’t there anymore. Again, she took her time walking down the hall, and was the last one in her group to reach the loading area.

The CM on the moving walkway was a girl with bright red braids and powder-dusted freckles, with yet another penetrating stare. She motioned, silently, at Nory’s doom buggy.

This time, Nory was expecting the extra attention. And the red-headed CM didn’t disappoint: Just like the blonde from earlier, she locked eyes with Nory and leaned, leaned, leaned along with the doom buggy as it glided alongside the moving walkway, the CM’s pale face even paler beneath her white makeup.

Nory met her creepy stare until the walkway ended, then turned away, in order to situate her purse and her camera.

“Pssssssst!” she heard, in her left ear. She jumped, her heart racing, and turned her head.

The red-haired CM’s face was ten inches from hers, staring, staring, staring.

Nory screamed. Then she started laughing, a bit hysterically. The doom buggy moved on, deeper into the mansion.

To this day, Nory has no idea how the CM achieved this amazing, utterly surprising scare. She could have sworn her buggy had already passed the end of the moving walkway. But how else could the CM have gotten so close?

Nory leaned back in her buggy, her heart still pounding, still laughing quietly at herself. What a perfect touch for my last ride, she thought, satisfied. Just perfect.

She was, however, happy she didn’t suffer from a heart condition.

The ride stopped frequently, this time, and Nory found herself trapped for a while in the ballroom, and the attic, and the graveyard, enjoying each unanticipated pause for the extra park time it granted her. But, inevitably, the ride eventually ended, depositing her in the cemetery.

It was 12:05. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was officially over.

Oh my goodness. I think I would have had a major accident if the CM had pulled that on me. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

What a perfect end for you on your last ride of the night.

I love that Haunted Mansion story! I don't know how the CMs keep a straight face after scaring someone. That would be the most difficult part for me. I would just want to crack up. I can't wait to hear about the walk out of the park. I just love the parks in the dark after closing time.

Wow - that's almost a little TOO scary. I got the chills when you described your scare.

Really cool pictures of the outside of HM!

I don't want your night to end!

It was really, really perfect. Took a while for my heart to calm down afterwards, though!

All the HM CMs were really great that night. They must have so much fun at the Halloween parties! I love the parks after closing, too, though I never seem to be able to force myself to stick around as long as I want to...I always start to get antsy. It'd be really cool to be the very last person out of a park someday!

My heart was pounding just reading that...scccarrryyyy...
It was so scary-fun! I don't scream often, but I sure did that night...or yelped really loudly, anyway.

I didn't want my night to end, either! It honestly was my best Disney World night ever. I've tried to recreate it many times since then, but it's never managed to be quite as magical as this one.

That scare was priceless. Do you think she "hitched" a ride on the back of your buggy for a few feet? :lmao:

I love when you have a perfect day/night and you just walk out satisfied. ::yes::

Sorry, I got a bit behind...especially on all the threads I'm following! It was Simba's first birthday party last weekend, so I was busy prepping for that, and then we started night weaning this week (after a whole year, I'm ready for a full night's sleep!), meaning I've been too zonked for anything other than knitting and TV in my free time.

To make up for it, here is a picture of Simba enjoying his first-ever cake (and his first-ever chocolate!):

Anyway, enough with the me, now, and back to the story of Nory three years ago! :rotfl:

***

Nory walked toward the exit as slowly as she could manage, wanting to savor every last second of what had been a truly extraordinary evening, wanting the park all to herself as much as was possible.

i-7NqFrck-L.jpg

She was pretty successful in her mission. By the time she hit Adventureland, she passed only the occasional CM picking up discarded candy wrappers or wishing her goodnight as she passed.

Main Street, of course, was a bit busier, and Nory contemplated strolling through the shops in order to be one of the absolute last guests out. But she did want to do some work when she got back to her room -- she had so many notes, so many ideas, to get on paper! -- and it was late. So she said good-bye to the Magic Kingdom, at least for the night.

A quick glance at the monorail lines convinced her to jump in the resort one, this time, and within minutes she was on her way back to the Polynesian. She went straight to her room, poured herself a glass of wine, and sat with her notebook on her patio. She looked up and saw the castle, still illuminated, across the water.

Nory started writing. She felt like her imagination was on fire, in a way it hadn't been in more years than she could remember. She jotted down every idea she'd had while in the park that night, and new ideas that came to her while she sat there, the palm trees swaying in the breeze and the faint sounds of Halloween music still filling the air. She wrote things down and crossed them out and wrote them down again.

And after a few hours, Nory had the prophecy for her novel.

A star to show Evil
from wishes come light

A friend to be Evil
her body to fight

A rope to bind Evil
from mountains far West

A knife to slay Evil
from close-guarded chest

A book to catch Evil
in ink a blood-red

A tale to hush Evil
imagined, then said

A fire to burn Evil
from deep in the earth&

Well, part of her prophecy, anyway. The quest part. The puzzle part. The part that would give the whole book its direction. She knew she needed a little more to come before, and a little more to come after&but she had the guts of it. And with the guts of it came all the ideas of what would happen at the climax of the book. And from there, the rest of the story would practically fall into place.

Nory sat back and sighed. It was after two in the morning. She sipped her last few drops of wine and stared at the castle in the distance. She smiled. In all of her trips to Disney World, this had been the best Disney day shed ever had.

Nory, I can't believe Simba is one! And I love the picture of him with his cake...he looks very pleased with himself.

I'm so glad that this night had turned out to be your best ever in your trips to the World and that you got so many ideas for your book.

Nory! How did I miss this three-year-old trip report? How did I miss that you have a one-year-old? He's GORGEOUS!!! Yay for you nursing for a whole year...he is so much better for it. Think of the lifelong immunities you gave him all year. :) I am a huge cheerleader for nursing mamas.

I have to admit, it took several posts before I got used to the third-person perspective, but then I really enjoyed it. I LOVE your book idea. So creative.

I know I'm at the end, but I'm really enjoying your (3-yr-old) report. Sorry I never saw it until now. I miss my twin.

Congratulations to you and your beautiful family. :hyper:

Happy Birthday to Simba! I love the latest update. If you get your book published you have to let us know the info. I want to read it. Isn't it amazing that after all of the time you've spent at Disney World you can still have your best Disney Day ever? I'm sorry to see this 3 year old trip report coming to an end.

I can't believe he's one, either! He wasn't sure what to make of the cake at first, but quickly realized the wonders of chocolate. :)

HUCIFER!!! It's so good to see you here!

Thanks for the cheerleading. :cheer2: I'm hoping to make it to two years, if Simba's up for it (and based on his current love for the ****as, I'd be surprised if he wasn't, but I guess we'll see). Just not at night. Mommy is tired!

The third person thing is pretty weird in a TR, I'll admit. I kind of regretted it about 1/3 of the way through, but by then it was too late. Glad you like the book idea!

How's your little man doing?

I will definitely let everyone know when the book is ready...if I can't get a traditional publisher, I'll probably self-publish it and hopefully get a decent number out there on my own. Granted, I haven't had much time to work on it lately...but I get pieces done here and there. Simba will go to school eventually, right? ;)

The only problem with having had a best Disney Day is that I've never been able to top it.

And don't worry, I have plans for a new trip report right on the heels of this one! :goodvibes

Oh wow, if you can do it for two years...you're my idol. I lasted 15 months with Patrick, but going back to work really did a number on my milk supply. I miss nursing very much.

I really enjoyed your report! I am super picky about reading reports, and I'm happy to say yours makes the cut. ;) You are a very talented writer and photographer.

Patrick is in the first grade. Dan and I are taking Patrick to WDW for his first time next August when he'll be seven. I can't believe I lasted this long. I'm actually going to start one of those silly pre-trip reports that I swore I would NEVER do. But, true to my life, there are lots of interesting things to talk about during the planning process.

Looking forward to the rest of your report. Three years in the making! ;)
