Has anyone gone on the Norweigan Majesty out of Boston? They are offering some great rates right now for a 7 day Boston to Bermuda cruise ($499pp) and I am thinking of doing this cruise with a girl friend of mine. We were wondering if anyone knows about the singles scene on board this ship...:D

Hi, DH, DD and I sailed on the Majesty in February when she was still sailing out of Miami. The ship itself was nice. It's a little older, and showing some wear, but overall, we enjoyed it. I can't comment on the singles scene personally (look at who I was with... I'll have to leave them home next time! ;) ), but I did see quite a few groups who seemed to be enjoying themselves. There is a casino, and the freestyle dining is GREAT!!! Getting to choose when and where you eat is wonderful. We didn't catch any shows (we sat on the deck 8 large verandah which was deserted after sundown - PERFECT!) so I can't comment on the entertainment, either.

Overall, I think the price is right for the trip that you are talking about. I would definitely go for it!!!

My husband and I did the Boston - Bermuda run in May, 2000. The single scene I can't say for sure. I was 35 when we did it and most of the people were older, not too many younger. The ship was nice. The food was good and they have a restaurant similiar to Palo that is very good. I was not impressed with the entertainment. the rooms are small and there is a fair amount of noise. I could hear the guy next to us snoring and his wife asking him to roll over! This ship does seem to have its share of issues. When we were on it one night no hot water and one day no a/c. There are some great sides to taking this ship. Bermuda is beautiful and there is no cheaper way of seeing it. Since you live in Massachusetts, no flying back and forth, a huge plus. I say go for it, you don't have a whole lot to lose. Even the story about the snorer kept my husband and I chuckling the entire trip.

Hubby and I took the Norwegian Majesty last February from Miami. It was a 4 day cruise..our first ever. I will have to say for the rate we got ($199 each) it was a wonderful time! The food was fabulous and I loved freestyle dining. I can't comment on the singles scene since most of the passengers on that particular cruise were older gay men. They were the nicest bunch of people to cruise with....all dressed nice and clean and considerate. I was impressed that they could arrange this cruise with people from all over the USA. We really enjoyed the Karaoke. I had never gotten up the nerve to sing until then. I was a bit dissapointed in the "whirlpools". The water was room temp..not hot. I guess that is why they don't call them hot tubs.
A couple times the toilets were plugged, but we heard that when one person plugs it up...50 can be affected. On the day we got off the ship there was a flood in the 5th deck bathroom and it was leaking in our hallway near our room. I was glad it was not dripping in my room.
For the most part it was an enjoyable experience. The chocoholic buffet is to die for. Melissa

I know it will not live up to the Magic, but I thought it might be nice anyway. I have never been to Bermuda, so I thought that might be good...
