In a surprise announcement on Wednesday morning, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings — parent company of Norwegian Cruise Line — announced it would be dropping pre-cruise COVID testing on select sailings effective August 1, 2022.
. . .
In a letter to travel agents and booked guests, the line said, “Effective August 1, 2022, Norwegian Cruise Line will no longer require guests to complete pre–cruise COVID-19 testing unless required by local regulations. The pre-embarkation testing requirement will remain in place for guests currently traveling on voyages departing from destinations with local testing regulations, including but not limited to the U.S., Canada, Greece and Bermuda.”

They can drop all the embarkation requirements, but if they are still going to throw people in quarantine based on symptoms on board, they are just passing the buck.

The current stock prices probably have something to do with it.

The dropping is due to the EU Healthy Gateways Announcement today.

This is no EU Healthy Gateways cruising update released today. That last update was in June.

I couldn’t find anything either, but NCL must think there is. I wonder if they were just a little early in their announcement. From the NCL page:

EU Healthy Gateways Ends Pre-Cruise Testing Requirements

For sailings beginning August 1, 2022, vaccinated guests sailing on a cruise originating from any port EXCEPT a U.S. port; Canadian port; or Piraeus, Greece are exempt from all pre-cruise COVID-19 testing requirements.

The reason why they are 'announcing' it now is in post #4.
