Norway Is A "Frozen" Mess!

This used to be my favorite pavilion in all of Epcot. You could stroll into the gift shop and look around at leisure, while the smell of Laila filled the area. You could wander through the church looking at the Viking artifacts without any problem (if that's your thing). It was a pleasant way to spend some time at World Showcase.

Then Anna and Elsa showed up......

Don't get me wrong, I am not a hater of these lovely Scandinavian ladies. However, their popularity has turned the once quaint Norway Pavilion into a steaming mass of sweaty humanity. My wife and daughter were just over there yesterday and said you could not tell apart the lines from the meet and greet and Maelstrom. People were jammed into the pavilion square like herring during a spawn. And good luck trying to browse in the gift shop.

It seems pretty obvious that Disney has under estimated the popularity of Frozen.

Get Anna and Elsa out of there and give me back my Norway, the way it used to be.

I haven't seen Norway since this started, but I agree with you, does Frozen have anything to do with Norway anyway? It sounds like they need their own private area

I haven't been since they arrived and when I read that the wait to see them one day was up to 6 hours I was trying to picture where all those people are waiting and what a mess it must be there.
I don't know what its like on a slow day but I'm one of those people that like to stroll through WS and not have it feel like I'm in a theme park jammed with other people.

Anna and Elsa are very popular. Why not give them a fabulous space where the lines can be dealt with more efficency.

While Norway suits them, I think more space is the key.

Norway was always our favorite, too. I don't want crowds there.

Snow Queen was written by a Dane. Maybe move the Frozen gals next to Germany?

Or better yet, our least favorite spot, the U.S. This winter has been so cold that it fits. ;)

Frozen is set in a mythical Scandinavian kingdom called Arendelle. Even though the kingdom itself isn't real, Disney used Norway as the model for Arendelle. The name of the kingdom is a play on the town of Arendal in Norway. Most of the architecture, clothing, animals, mountains, and fjords shown in the film were based on the animators' trips to Norway to study the country.

It's odd to me that WDW appears caught off guard by their popularity. They set this M&G up like a sideshow instead of an attraction; it's not surprising that it's overwhelming the Norway Pavilion.

While they may not have seen the over the top popularity of Frozen coming, the last two princesses (Rapunzel & Merida) were immensely popular when they featured them in Fairytale Garden in MK and their movies didn't have this kind of heat.

Thanks for the info! I can't wait to see it, I can't believe I haven't seen it yet, its a phenomenon, so it sounds like Anna and Elsa need their own private area!!!!!!

Great idea! Lol - love it! :-D

Rimshot? LOL

Now I have to go listen to "Let It Go" a few times. Idina Menzel killed it with that song! :)

I agree. I can't believe that they have yet to address this. If they stay true to their mantra of late, more time in lines means less time in shops and restaurants then you would think they would be doing everything they could to remedy this. People standing in line for 4-5 hours are not spending money and are not too happy either. It is becoming a phenomenon and they need to treat it as such. Perhaps having them meet in MK when Tink moves would help. I also think FP+ would help. I just can't see how maintaining the current system is going to hold up especially as the busy season starts in the next couple of weeks.

:thumbsup2

There is even a new exhibit in the Stave Church with artifacts from Norway that provided "inspiration" for Frozen.:)

I'd like to meet Anna and Elsa when I go in May. However, I hope the lines will have gotten shorter by that time.

They'd definitely be better suited in MK, but where? On some kind of rotation in Princess Fairytale Hall maybe? Or keep them static on one side while the other side is on rotation?

Disney is dedfinitely working on the problem.:)

The hottest RUMOR has Merida moving to Princess Fairytale Hall and the Cold Ones taking her spot in Fairytale Gardens.:)

Also, there continues to be a lot of "buzz" that Malestrom will "possibly" be themed to Frozen.:)

Well, you are probably right about them not being happy, but I'm not sure the "not spending money" argument works because of the way the line is being treated. Since only one person has to stand in line for the group, the rest of the group has a number of hours to go and do something else. Except, they can't go that far, so probably one of the most likely things they go do is shop and eat after riding Maelstrom 100 times.

I loved Norway! And still do, but that queue is an eyesore.

I'm sure it won't be long till they get more space.
