Norway Cruise (+Iceland/Copenhagen/Dover) TIPS (consolidated)

I'm on the 6/6 7 night Norway Fjords which has nothing up since we don't go to Oslo.... PIF date is 2/6!!!!!

Yep same as the other sailing prior to ours. I hope it's soon I really do :) At least we go to Oslo and Reykjavik but we need the others as well :lmao:

I think we'll see some more Reykjavik excursions for ours, as we have the overnight there and nothing seems evening-specific.

Excursions for most of the ports in Norway are still not listed, but a few more excursions have been added to Baltic ports this week. One is the ball at Catherine's Palace in St. Petersburg. There is also the option of renting a car and driver in St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Stockholm, or Copenhagen. A description of a bus tour that will drop off passengers at the airport in Copenhagen is listed but the excursion can be booked only onboard.

They are adding them day by day just a bit late. I gave this feedback direct to Karl Holtz when I saw him, I said on that cruise all of my trips in all the ports were private and not DCL and I had already booked all of my Baltic 2015 private tours. His ears picked up when I said that's lost income to DCL. With the concierge booking window at 125 days for requests by email and phone it doesn't leave a lot of time for cruisers to choose trips. They really need to get thee act together, RCL have there's up circa six months in advance.

Nice to hear all the excitement here about the Norwegian cruises - I've been feeling a bit flat about it recently as there's been no buzz or excitement in anticipation (everyone talks only about the Caribbean or Bahamian cruises).

Jealous of the people going to Norway, since they just made the Frozen annoucement! I hope the event carries over to my 12 day northern in July.

Since everyone is talking about excursions, when do they post things about actual times for the excursions? St Petersburg is the place I'm most concerned about, I want to make sure I can do as much as possible and I was trying to figure out if you can do two shorter tours in one day, such as Catherine's Palace and the Introduction to St Petersburg... I'm bringing my 2 yr old, and I want to leave her on the ship a little so I can do museums, but I'm trying to figure out if I could mabye leave her for while I do Catherine's Palace and then grab her for a boat tour or something, so that she isn't in the Nursery for a full day. This might be my only chance in St Petersburg...

As for anyone who asked if Tivoli is worth it... is Disneyland? :) Its a very special place, and while it does have a rides, it has a lot of charm and history as well. My mother who doesn't like amusement parks, not even Disney, still loves it and wants to go visit while we are in Copenhagen.

And having visited many Legolands, its a fun place, but no, you'll get just as much out of going in CA, and things will be in English. Unless you happened to be in the area anyways.

Everything in LEGOLAND Billund (Denmark) is in English, Danish, and German. Most of the staff speak English as well. If you encounter one that doesn't speak English, they will immediately find someone who does to help you out. (That only happened once during our last visit.)

Add us to the group anxiously awaiting Norway excursions to be released. We'll be on holiday in Disneyland on the day our booking window opens and don't want to waste valuable park time to read all the excursions and decide on which one(s) we want to do. We're Gold Castaway members, so hopefully we'll see some of the options offered to Concierge and Platinum at the 125 day window.

Our cruise meets established we have Frozen on the 7/22 so looks like they all have them you can call DCL they will tell you. For St Petes I have been before I strongly advise an independent tour you get a lot in with alcal guide it's far cheaper than DCL you do far more they even do children trips, the link for Anasatsia travel is in my posts above I have two days with them this year and it will be 25% of the cost of DCL for my family.

Glad to know Legoland has everything in English.. I probably shouldn't of commented, its been at least 15 years since I went there, and my memory (which may have been true at the time) was that we could certainly get around in English but that we felt like we were missing out on stuff because of language (like on rides).

I will look at your links for St. Petersburg... though if I end up leaving my daughter onboard I feel like I'm just more comfortable going with DCL in case of an emergency.

As far as Frozen goes, my TA called for me and asked, and she said DCL would only tell her that they hadn't announced which cruises yet... I have high hopes though! It makes sense since they'll already have everything on board taking up room :)

On St Petes I would say the opposite If you book a private tour and in the unlikely event you had contact with the ship there was an issue your private van could drop back, maybe wait and then pick you up again. On a DCL tour you wouldn't have a bus turn back, with 55 people on it you would gave to get a taxi. If you have a mobile or get the guides mobile you will be in touch all the time.

On Frozen DCL told us direct our cruise 7/22 had Frozen so DCL know.

DCL CMs have definitely given out misinformation before. But, I would say it wouldn't make sense to not have Frozen for quite a few cruises, they have the cast members for it, props, etc. I would guess it'll go through at least the repo cruise to the med, if not longer.

Yes from DCL we have it on the 7/22 and we do not have pirates night.

Entertainment staff, and Princesses coming on board seem to be coming on from the EBTA for six months, unless the poor Frozen princesses warm up to much I think they will make it to Dover on August 3rd, then onwards they are able to fire off fireworks so who knows, but I can't see the magic having frozen in disney dreams then reverting back on the same cruise staff who are there for six months rotation.

 Time will tell - right? :) We ended up booking directly with RE.IS but they will allow a cancellation if needed.
Alesund port adventures are up!

Maybe the other Norway ports will follow soon!
Hi my fellow "Nuernberg'er" :) I hope you're doing well! :goodvibes

It looks like they are still loading as about 5 I checked don't show any prices. Doesn't apply to our sailing but it's fun to read about different adventures. :yay:

Book with these, I used them in 2010 I have booked with them for this summer as well, cheaper than DCL and you fit more in.

You do NOT need a visa, they send you a email ticket that acts as your pass through Border control.

I have booked two full days with them,

Disney Fantasy- I have also booked Anastasia- probably after hearing your recommendation a while ago- but now there is some talk on another thread that there is a worry in not using DCL due to some new visa/travel restrictions being placed on tourists in Russia. I have thought about booking a private car/guide through DCL but of course it costs almost double for our family of five. Your thoughts? Thank you!

Hi, all! Just popping in to say how much I wish I was doing one of these cruises with you! BUT I was in Iceland last summer before our Greece DCL cruise and if you have the chance to visit The Blue Lagoon, do it! It's a wonderful, relaxing experience! It is a bit away from Reykjavik, but it's a pretty cool drive.

Have fun!

Well we went with DCL in 2010 and I personally used Anastasia then and sailed through border control without any issue.

I will now post a message from my quality Specialist DCL TA I had to chop it as these boards do not allow there name to be shown here, however all credit to them. This is what they said:-

Bergen is up, too! Now if they'd only post prices!

Do we really want to know? ;)

I assume they will keep these up now for 2016 as well. Or should I take screenshots now.
