Anyone else flying to WDW on Northwest Airlines soon? We're scheduled to leave October 1, but I'm getting worried with all the strike and bankrupcy talk. Add on the hurricane disaster and future ones, and I'm more scared than excited to go! Our TA says if we can't go on Northwest, we would "probably" be standby for United...of course at an airport an hour and a half away.

There was a girl in our office yesterday from Minneapolis MN who flew in on Northwest Friday. She said it was the first time her flight was ever on time and the substitute people were much more friendly than the regular ones ever were. So..............her feel on the whole thing is that it's better than before the strike!!!!

Hey Ann,
I have been having the same feelings. I fly out of MSP on NWA on Sat Sept 24. I think we will be fine on NWA though...I just hope the hurricanes are done making landfall for the year.

I have friends that have been flying NW since the strike and said things ran very smoothly.

I just flew NWA last week. We were delayed 2hrs on the way to MCO, but everything ran on time coming home. I wouldn't worry.

We're on NWA on the 16th...it really seems all is well with them.

I'm more concerned about hurricanes, but at this point it looks like Maria and Nate won't be a problem??

Here's hoping Ophelia behaves herself...!

We leave tomorrow for Disney World and we are flying Northwest. I just called to see if are flight is on time and so far it is, I hope it stays that way! I will call again latter tonight just to make sure. I will let you know how it all goes when we get home.

I'm flying NWA from DTW to LAX a week from Saturday, I'm also hoping things are ok as well!

Okay, now that Northwest has officially filed for bankrupcy protection, anyone heard anything more about their upcoming flights? I am actually feeling okay as while we're booked under Northwest, we're actually flying Continental (I guess they share flights on some routes or something like that)...so hoping it all works out okay!

Northworst just joined all of the other airlines that are still operating under bankruptcy. I wouldn't worry much about your flight.

I'm leaving tomorrow, but on Delta, not Northwest. Not too worried about the airline, but I AM concerned about the hurricane--and how that will affect the flight.

We are leaving Saturday the 17th on Northwest and I am not concerned at all. Although this will be my first time flying Northwest, I usually fly Sun Country out of Minneapolis, but Northwest was cheaper this time, which is odd.

We are not worried about flying out to Orlando on Northwest. Things seem to be running smooth and they are continuing to fly despite the bankruptcy. As long as we get to Diseny that will be great!!!!!!

and if a hurricane hits, well it's a good excuse to go again because we won't get to do everything we wanted to do! and with Orlando being so far inland I'm not too worried about the hurricanes, there just might be a lot of rain.

Okay, silly office girl. Unless she was talking to the MECHANIC...she was NOT talking to any replacement (substitute). Yikes!!

All of the ticket agents, security personnel, gate agents, pilots and flight attendants are the same old ones for years years and years.

And yes, they are very nice. :flower:

As far as your flights, this is why NWA filed chapter 11 now. As of Oct. 17, the chapter 11 laws change and companies that file after that date cannot operate for years such as a couple of the "legacy" air carriers are doing right now.
NWA, will continue to run indefinately. This is their way to restructure the airline. They are hoping with out thier union contracts and without pension obilgations they will return to profitabillity. Harsh reality.

Most likely, your flights will be fine. Check your reservations periodically, and use the on-line notification in case your flight or flight number has been changed. All of your frequent flier miles will remain in tact.

Relax!! It's not your life that has been turned upside down!

chereebob, 3 hurricanes came through the Orlando area last year. Being inland is no guarantee that there will be no damage. Lots of people had to replace roofs, find new places to live.
