We have airline tickets for late October and early November on Northwest from Detroit to Orlando. I understand that NW is clipping appx 20% of their flights, has anyone been contacted by their airline to advise of flight cancellation. If so, did they offer any other flights?

According to their website, their revised schedule is going to be final by October 1. I would just keep checking your flights on the website and see if there have been any changes or call their 800 number periodically. You can use your confirmation number to confirm your flight numbers and times on the website as well. Under trip planning on the NW site, there is a pull down menu and one of the choices is to view your reservations. If you have e-tickets, you should have a confirmation slip with a PNR number which is a six digit/letter combination. By entering that, you should be able to periodically check your itinerary. We also have reservations on NW for mid-November and so far there have been no changes but I plan to check back and assume they would notify me of any significant changes in schedule. Also, I know that around the end of October, they tend to shift some flights around anyway so just keep checking. Good luck!

We are flying NW from DTW to MCO in mid-October. I checked yesterday (by checking thru reservations on line) and our return flight was not showing up. I called NW, and they indicated that it might just be sold out--it is not showing up in their computers as cancelled. Funny, every date that I put in for October did not show that flight any more--I can hardly believe that that particular flight sold out for every date in the month of October (if that were true, they wouldn't be reducing flights and staff).

I assume this flight is one that will get axed, and they are taking it off the list of available flights right now so that no one else books it until it is offically cancelled. The NW person would not confirm or deny this assumption--and basically appeared to know less about what was going on than I did (and I don't know much). I asked about changing my flight to one of the others since it no longer shows up. Since that flight is not "offically" cancelled, there would be a $100 per ticket fee. I told them forget it.

NW had no info to offer other than to check back in the beginning of October---I feel frustration beginning to set in.....

Trudy, before you get too frustrated, have you tried checking your itinerary on the NW website? Don't just check under reservations though. Under Travel Planner, there is a pull down menu. Click on View/Change reservations. It will ask you for your confirmation number and last name and then will pull up your reservation. It will give you your present itinerary and/or show you any changes that have been made. I know people who work at NW and they said many of the schedule changes have already been made but they're waiting until 10/1 to make it official. Basically, if your flights are still there, you'll probably be okay. My flights are still there and, as a matter of fact, some of my seat assignments have also been made. Hope this helps a little.
