I got the same notice... Visa's are $200 a person. Disney only gets them if you are on their excursions.

Also, she told me that final payment is 120 days out? I thought is was 90 days out? Is this something new. So ... final payment date is Feb 12, 2010!

We're in! Who else is going? :yay: :yay: :yay:

HI, I just joined your group and saw this thread. DH and I both will be going on this cruise.
Nice to see there are a lot of people going.

:cheer2: Welcome to the DISboards and Welcome Aboard!:cheer2:

As far as the FE giving - I am not planning on bringing an extra suitcase on this trip for gifts. I will have to have something very small or a group gift.

oh the other hand, whatever room the FE gifts take up, can be used for souveneirs from the trip.....all those Russian nesting dolls and little red Scandinavian horses and toleware!

Hi Connie. Looking forward to seeing you onboard if not before!!!

Still would like to get John on the WB TA though.

What if we are just sight seeing on our own? I thought that DCL had to get them for everyone that is on the ship.

Just found this info -

Visas for Cruise Passengers

Cruise ship passengers can currently visit Russia on visa-waiver scheme provided that the stop in the port of call doesn't exceed 72 hours and tourists stay overnight on board of the cruise ship. This rule doesn't apply to passengers of Finnish and some other cruise companies. This rule doesn't apply either if there is only one port of call during a voyage.
Cruise passengers may disembark from the ship without a tourist visa if they participate in tours organized by cruise companies. Passengers, who are not participating in tours and wishing to disembark will need to obtain a Russia tourist visa. Passengers won't be permitted ashore if they don't present a valid passpost, a Russian visa and a voucher issued by a Russian travel company or another athorized organization.
Cruise passengers cannot obtain a visa in Russia. Visas are issued in the country of residence before departure.
We recommend that you check information on organized cruise tours and visas with your cruise company in advance.

I just found that. Well I guess I will get a visa. This is the 1 place that I will want to see lots of and I know that churches and museums I can do cheaper than the tours through DCL. Plus I hate all the waiting for group excursions. Add another $1000 to our price.:scared1:

Well, I'd be willing to do the scrapbook class again. We will most likely do a tabletop book (6 x 6), 14 pages in length, you will get all the supplies for the class and we will do it on a sea day. It will be based around the theme for the cruise. You will pre-sign up for the class before the cruise when it gets closer. For those that have done the class before, feel free to chip in and let everyone know if you want me to do this again.

Linda - count me in, I always love your scrapbooking classes!!!

As far as the FE giving - I am not planning on bringing an extra suitcase on this trip for gifts. I will have to have something very small or a group gift.

Yes, I also vote for small, or consumable. We are thinking of doing some touring by train before the cruise, and do not want to haul lots of suitcases, even if we could get them on the airplane!

We'll join in with the celebrating.

We will be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary on June 12, 2010

Had to tie the cruise into a big anniversary so DH doesn't complain about the cost :thumbsup2

Jen

We will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, which is actually July 12, but we told Disney that we would celebrate it June 12.

Hi we will be joining the cruise as well can't wait

Tap & Dap
Tom and Diana Phillips
Cat 6 - no room yet

Tom and Diana - it will be good to see you again!

Just heard from my TA that if you are planning excursions on your own in St. Petersburg that you have to get a Russian visa. But if you're using DCL excursions, then you don't need one.

I wonder if this is why RCCL's list of excursions for St. Petersburg includes so many private car/van tours... :confused3

Sue

If we do something w/ someone like Alla or Red October tours they will take care of the visas for us.

Believe me - there will be many souveniers coming home w/ me!

Alla and Red October tours - we can always do a group excursion w/ ourselves.

I'll plan on doing the Mini Navigator too, but it will be a condensed version than those I have previously done. I can add the staterooms easily if someone can color them in for me and send me the jpeg file. That seems to work well.

Okay, back to work (yes, I'm still working!)

Yeah, I love your mini-navigator. It was such a huge help on the 11 night Southern. I might try to do the scrapbook class again too.

I loved the mini navigator too....amazing work!

Of course you do! :thumbsup2 As far as I'm concerned the whole cruise will be a birthday bash for both of us!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: On the topic of flights, any thoughts about who to fly with???

NEVER!!! I don't intend to give up without a fight!!! I'm thinking of going for this look for the semi-formal... ;)

We'll probably fly with either British Airways or Delta. British is really nice, we used them for the TA in '07.

Cool! Love the outfit! :rotfl: Let me know when you find your formal.

I think that we will be flying out of Chicago, hopefully direct. So it looks like British Airways may be the way to go. Do you have any suggestions? I doubt we will do Delta again. The flights we had with them last month going to Italy were great. But since they go out of Atlanta, it makes for a very long day of travel for us. So we are going to stick with going through Chicago this time.

Hey Emily! I see by our signature that you are going on the Viva Italia tour through ABD. You will just love it! We had a great time last month and wished we had extended our stay in Italy. If you have any questions about the tour, pm me.
