We would LOVE to go, and are looking at all options, including purchasing another contract at DVC. I do think it is a shame that Disney is charging so much more than other lines. They're good, YES! But my goodness, this is much higher than anyone thought. We'll have to see if we'll reach for this one, or sit back and wait to sail on one of the new ships.

Well, I had to come over and see who is here and I see I already know loads of folks here. I've been waiting for the DVC points to come out. I think we are narrowing down between this cruise, the Xmas 2010 and waiting for 2011.

Kev just called member services and OUCH not only is this cruise a lot of points (which we expected) but we were just informed that if we book one person with points we have to pay the other person up front? WTH? Normally that wouldn't be a problem but we are going into winter and our job depends on the weather so we stock pile to be safe. We have a lot of thinking to do before plunking cash for one half of this cruise in full. Does anyone else think its screwy that DVC member have to pay in FULL at time of booking when you have until so many days prior to book normally? Anyone?

This is making my head hurt. I just wrap my brain around this policy. We may be doing something different in 2010 unfortunatly. I was really excited about this one too.

Can't you just book as if you both were NOT using points? Then you'd only have to pay the deposit for each of you - which is tons cheaper than one person with cash. THEN, change it later - when you have more $$$?

Last night I watched the Samanth Brown segment on Copenhagen. Apparently the Little Mermaid statue is miles from anywhere, is really little, and (in her mind) isn't worth seeing. She said there is nothing else around there, so you can't even make a day out of it. Food for thought.

Also researched over at RCCL (yikes! ). In St. Petersburg, they do mostly private tours. They have either a car for 3 or a van for 10. It includes an English speaking guide. Cheapest was about $350 for a 1/2 day car - vans were more. Still, this is probably MUCH cheaper than a regular excursion.

We have 3 (DM, DD and me). Last year we took a private car and toured Rome. It seemed like a bunch of money until we realized that per person, we got a chauffeur/tour guide ALL DAY for the same price to just get into Rome by ourselves. Worked out great (especially since they had a taxi "strike" that day).

One final thing - loved some of the cruise name suggestions, but had to pick a "G" rated one for my DD! She thought some of the more "mature" ones weren't very funny. I wasn't about to explain! She's only 7!

Today I told my sister I'm thinking about selling my emerald ring, since I never wear it and I'd rather vacation with the money. She said, "If it fits me, you could give it to me for Christmas". I said, "You mean I could sell it to your husband and HE can give it to you for Christmas". She said, "D'oh "

I agree Georgie. They are charging way too much.
Disney is beginning to forget who has been with them all these years.
I think we may forgo this cruise. Too bad.

All I can say is at least we looked better. Sad but better! We have next week-end off which will be nice but then we are headed to Morgantown on the next Wed.

I sent you a PM. But I'm from Wheeling WV - WVU grad (undergrad and grad) - I went to medical school at Marshall. We have season tickets and make all of the games...

I'm not sure how easy anything is for anybody this season.
