Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

I guess that I don't understand why you are upset about the rule since you knew about it before cancelling your original reservation. You did the math and calculated that it was in your best interest to make the change and pay the penalty, so you did it.

I did the math for my family's reservation and decided that the cost savings wasn't worth making the change, so I didn't alter my reservation. I never thought of writing an angry letter.

It has only been recently that they started enforcing this rule I think. I can remember them waiving these penalties many times as reported on this board. You are right, it was in my best interest to change the reservation. I guess the part that seems to make me mad is that they drop the price right after the final payment date. It just seems like the timing was deliberate. I understand that this maximizes their bottom line in the short run, but for persons like myself, they may lose revenue in the long run. However, perhaps it is just myself who is upset about this and I am raining on the parade. I will drop it. Sorry.

I know for me with 25 Disney Cruises under my belt, that for the most part I have been able to save alot more in the long run by booking on the first day when the cruises are announced than by waiting because generally for inaugural cruises, the prices have not dropped.

Now, with that said, there have been a couple of times that they have dropped the prices at the end, but in the long run, I figure I have saved alot more money rather than waiting to book.

In my case, I am usually kicking myself for not having booked another dummy date when I was on the ship for a future cruise which I haven't actually booked yet. Now, I always try to pick a dummy date and book onboard and get the 10% plus onboard credit so I can maximize my $$ and go on more cruises!

I guess I am just hooked on DCL......

I just sent this email to the DCL Refund/commission people. I want to post it here also just in case someone with a brain over at DCL is reading. I have a PhD in Business and I know that the No. 1 rule is to take care of your customers. Don't run them off by doing stupid stuff. So here it
Disney on a whole seems to care more about the $ than the customer in my opinion.
Hi All,

Been reading every post on here, but don't post myself much unless I have anything to add/that hasn't already been said . . .

Hopefully we'll still be on the cruise, but my partner's father was just diagnosed with cancer. He is also in our travel party. So we aren't sure how things are going to play out over the next couple of weeks. Hoping some of the great folks on here can send some good vibes our way.

I'm in the secret Mickey, so if we end up not making it, maybe I can ship my gifts to someone else so they can gift them?

Speaking of gifts, does anyone know what the gift will be from DCL? We got a very nice leather bifold case for travel docs on the Med in 07.
So sorry about your friend's dad. Where do you live?

Both good points. I am trying get them to rethink the rule itself not break it. I guess I am so ticked off by their actions that it might sound that way.
Dumb rule if you ask me!

I think it is a new rule since we have canceled and rebooked before without a penalty.

I love DCL too. I guess I just wasn't feeling the Magic on this one point. But we are all going to have a great time anyhow.:cool1:

Gydell thanks for saying that stuff. I was beginning to think I was just a big killjoy. It's all good, we are cruising!

I have updated the page. :surfweb: There is one family that I need to add once I get her Disboard name.

She does have a 15 year old daughter that would like to make a friend ahead of time. Can someone post the link for the teen thread? I looked and keep missing it.

Thanks!

Debbie

Debbie,

This should get you to the teen thread.

I bet the teen thread will pick up when school gets out and they have more time.

I know I have asked this 50 times but here's 51 - where is dinner on the 11th? I promise to write it down where I can remember where I put it this time!

Is anyone going to Canterbury on June 11? My husband isn't sure he wants to go there, but I might consider going on the train to see the cathedral.

Good Morning Cruisers!

We are going but doing the Disney pre-cruise trip to Cantebury and Leeds Castle. I don't know if this helps you or not. Sue

Of course it maximizes their bottom line because it allows them to fill the boat up. While they would still fill the boat up if they let us change without penalty, they could actually lose money (in real terms) by doing so. They could end up with a full boat but actually make less sales revenue than they would if they had left those cabins empty. That would make no fiscal sense and irritate me (as a stockholder). I doubt that this policy will result in their losing in the long run because if you or I don't book those early cabins, someone else will.

Is anyone bringing costumes for the kids? Haven't found villans that my daughters want to emulate, so wondering about princesses, etc. Anyone planning to dress up for character meets, etc.?

Coldwater Creek Outlet online is having a sale. Everything is an additional 40% off the sale price.

I just bought a black knit travel skirt for $20 and a couple other things.

Plus, if you spend $50, you get $25 off with this offer code WHH3264

Just trying to do my part and help everyone spend more money! :rotfl:

I'm pretty certain that our princess owns every princess dress known to Disney (plus Tink). She won't, however, be dressed as a villain.
