Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Anyone get an upgrade yet?

Don't think that's gonna happen for us, and still haven't received docs yet:banana:

Everyone - does anyone like to do cross-stitch? :confused3 Just trying to figure out Secret Mickey and Fish Extender gifts, but don't want to put together a craft kit if folks aren't interested....Let me know.

I bought cross stitch kit but couldn't figure it out, so the husband took it one evening and did it, I couldn't let him show me up like that so, I bought another one and have been doing cross stitch for about 20 years, he said he was using psychology on me, yeah right:rotfl2:

My countdown ticker is starting to scare me!
Now I have to seriously figure out transportation from the ship to our hotel which we booked independently. :surfweb: And think about packing etc!

I have what is probably a REALLY stupid question, but both my hubby and I are such complete techno-idiots, we need to know. He has a Verizon blackberry that has both a phone and internet. Someone said that if we don't turn it off while we are in Europe, it will constantly roam and our bill be astronomical. Is that correct? Is it possible to turn off the internet and keep the phone on? Does anyone know?

Unless it is a international blackberry - Verizon phones won't work in Europe. If it is an international Blackberry - you can turn off data roaming...

http://b2b.vzw.com/international/Global_Phone/index.html are the only phones that work.

Regular Verizon phones (and other cell providers too) will work on the ship when they are not in port. Mine worked fine on the Med cruise in 2007. Once the ship leaves the port they turn on the mini cell tower or whatever they have on board that allows you to use your cell phones.

I haven't figured out how to get our hotel in London after the cruise either. I want to do it quickly so that we can maximize our time in London.

I have done an update to the roster! If you have gotten your room number and would like it listed, please let me know.

Remember on the bottom of the page there are the stats about number of people and staterooms

Time is ticking away!!

Thanks for the info!

So if they have their own tower, would we have expensive roaming charges for internet? And can we even get internet? We have always gotten the ship's package.

Does anyone have an evening tour planned with Anastasia Tours in St. Petersburg? My cabin mate and I would like to join up with another group to go on the Canal Boat trip. We have a day tour with Anastasia and won't get back to the ship in time for the Disney excursion but the rest of our group isn't really interested in going on the Canal Boat with Anastasia.

Also doing the doc dance :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

That's what I'm worried about. It's hard for me to imagine that it won't be in the 80's and 90's in the summer!

Do you mean phones won't work at all or that you will have roaming?

I have Verizon and I did confirm that my phone would not work at all. Some type of difference in technology. I purchased an international phone with an international SIM Card that will work in all the countries I am visiting. And calls are 59 cents per minute and receiving texts are free. .35 cents to send. I will use this many times hopefully over the next few years. www.onesimcard.com

I have AT&T and have used it in Europe before. That's why I am wondering...:confused3 I do have a small roaming fee but I have always had service. Guess I'll make a call to AT&T!

You should be fine.

We are taking the train from London to Dover and back. It seems pretty easy if you do not mind dealing with the luggage. It will be an adventure.

I have a question about the gratuities. In the cruise docs book we received DCL listed "12-Night Gratuity Suggestions" (per person, incl. children) and we are a family of 4:
Restaurant Server $48.00
Assistant Server $36.00
Head Server $12.00
Stateroom Host(ess) $48.00
My question is are these suggested totals for the 4 of us or do I multiply each total by 4, ie Restaurant Server $48 x 4 = $192.00. We are talking about total gratuities of $144.00 or $576.00. I hope that this makes sense. Thanks for your help.

The gratuity suggestions that they showed were for one person, so $576 is the suggested amount for your entire party.

Thanks...I thought $144 for the 4 of us seemed low and $576 seemed high but now I know how much to budget for gratuities.

Darn it, I was counting on having an excuse for the office not being able to contact me on 'At Sea' days.

Nobody said you had to tell them they'd be able to contact you.:lmao: Also, if you really don't want them to contact you just turn the phone off.
