Astrid's booked all our rooms and is liaisonin with the hotel re the use of one of their rooms for the Saturday (and maybe the Friday, if we push our luck!). The hotel need our credit card details to confirm the bookings (at the mo they're all bein charged to Astrid!!!). If you haven't already, can you please drop Astrid an email (icct335@aol.com) to arrange transfer of details (you can ring the hotel yourself, if you prefer, but will need a booking reference from Astrid).

A massive thanks to Astrid for all her hard work on our behalf.

Re the Southern Flyin contingent ; Can you let me have your flight details sometime so I can try to arrnage lifts or taxis, depending on when you all arrive and if yer together or not.

Just booked our flights to Newcastle dave!
Mark can't get any time off work on the Friday as he only starts his new job this week and we need the holiday time for you-know-where!
So we'll be flying out about 7.40pm and landing an hour later? thats on the Friday
Cant wait!

Annie, sorry I didn't answer your question earlier - flying from Stansted which is 15 minutes away from here and cheaper than the train fares!! ( DH isn't coming so no car - someone has to mind the fort as the boys have a lot on that weekend)

I did have a quick look at Southampton for flights, but DH is now starting a new job the day after we return from Florida in November, so we're not sure what his movements will be around then as he is now Account Manager for practically the WHOLE of the South of England! Don't fear, we'll be there though

After my last 2 journey's south of the Watford Gap, I would definitely recommend flying. I was sat on the M1 for 6 hours on Sunday evening and went about 8 miles in that time!

Anyway, I wasn't posting to moan, but to offer my services as an airport taxi person - I'd be more than happy to pick people up and drop them at the hotel, just let me know who and when.

Bev, it must have been SO awful to be stuck for 6 hours!!! I know you weren't posting about that specifically but you were extremely unlucky - we've all probably been stuck for an hour or two but SIX!!! I don't know what I'd do in a situation like that!
I believe that Dave had kindly offered to pick us( Janice and me) up, but thank you very much for the offer....... I don't know about anyone else who is flying up though.

Shirley Bob, thanks for the bump- meant to do it the other day ,now yer Cockney Knees Up's over for another year, but been a bit preoccupied.

Annie, tell Daryll congrats on the new job - no wonder he's splashin out on new footy shirts!

Bev, all taxi volunteers will be greatly received as we've got a few different parties that might all arrive together or around the same time. I've asked all them flyin to mail me their arrival/departure details so I can try to collate lifts etc. Had intended to do the lion's share meself but it now looks like I'll be workin Friday and Monday (and poss Saturday) so the more help re transport the better- Ta muchly.

We're flying up now - I believe we're on the same flights as Janice and Shirl - get in at 11.20 on the Saturday and fly out 16.00 on the Sunday. So I'm stickin' me thumb out now to bagsy a lift.

Can't wait - and I'll be sooooo excited as it'll only be a week from then that I go to DISCon - yeeha!!!!

Also I thought I might have talked Deb and Matt into coming but I see they haven't signed up - perhaps Shaun scared Matt off because Matt's shirt was so much brighter than Shaun's at the last meet

Shirley - would you believe that's the 2nd time that's happened to me in about 2 months!

i went down to Essex for a scrapbooking weekend in August and spent 5 hours on the M25 and missed most of the first day, so this time I went down the night before just to be sure.

I could not believe it when it happened again. the man in the car next to me was saying 'this is the worst jam I've ever seen' and I was thinking - it all looks terribly familiar to me!

Anyway - back to the lifts - I would be more than happy to pick up from the airport, although if there are lots of you all arriving on the same plane, then it might make a lot of sense for us to arrange a mini-bus taxi to pick you all up, as I only have a saxo!

Yep we are on the same flight as Sam and Paul, and as Bev says, if there is a lot of us at the same time, maybe a Taxi would just be as easy.
