Sail date 8/19 in the Wish on a VGT with restriction reservation.

My flight out of NYC 8/18 had been delayed (weather related) and no end in sight. Northeast corridor just looks bad.

I have trip insurance with Allianz.

What are some steps I can take at this point to potentially recoup my loss? Any particular documentations or information I need to retain to provide to the insurance carrier?

Any advice appreciated!

Get your policy out now. Read it and find out how to file a claim. Nobody here can tell you what documents you need.

(Sorry you’re losing your trip :( )

I’m really sorry about this. I cancelled a WDW trip with Allianz insurance. I believe you can call Allianz and they will initiate the claim. They will then email you with the claim form.

In addition to completing the claim form, you submit documents for each portion of the trip (cruise confirmation, airline tickets, car transfers, etc.). And for each of those documents, you need to print your credit card statements showing you paid for the item. I redacted everything and just left that purchase visible. That was a lengthy process. Each travel document needs to show the purchase as non-refundable. Ex - car transfer receipt says cancellations must be made 48 hours prior).

It was a tedious process but I called Allianz several times and they were helpful. I received a check for the exact amount I submitted and it was a fairly quick turnaround time.

If you booked through a travel agent, they can initiate the claim and complete some sections.

Good luck

How did you make out......we had bad weather last night.

To add, I would call Allianz and ask what documentation you need to show your flight was cancelled with no rescheduled flight to make the cruise. I canceled with a doctor’s letter so my situation was slightly different.

You need to call Allianz directly, that will be way more helpful than the boards here. We also use Allianz and they told us what we needed to submit (it was a medical claim). Got our refund fairly quickly.

Make sure you can document the fact that you could not get there in time, not just the inconvenient new time you did not like. Not saying that is the case, but that is what will determine the interruption of $500 payment vs your trip cost payment.

I've filed two different claims with Allianz. You should be able to file right on their website. Log in and provide them with proof of your flight cancellation and documentation of the cruise date. They have been easy to work with and pay up pretty quickly. I wouldn't stress. I'm so sorry you missed your cruise.

Late post! But we managed to get to MCO and had 4h to spare before check in.

It was such a stressful first stay! Either way, glad I had the coverage “just in case”
Super happy for you! And thanks for circling back. I'm sailing in a week and this is when the stress of traveling in hurricane season is starting to set in for me, so I kind of needed to see your happy ending. Fingers crossed!

Thanks! Enjoy your trip!

The weather issue also led DCL to return to Castaway Cay a second time rather than doing a day at sea.

Guess we got lucky!
