North To Alaska--May 3, 2011 on the Disney Wonder

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!

The MEGA LIST has been updated.

You can use this as a shortcut to all of the activity links. ENJOY!

It won't be long now. Happy Packing!

I am trying to figure this out also. Trying to read all the past posts and I "think" it is a one time gift to each cabin...most of the list seem to be adult only cabins with about a dozen kids involved. I got the idea it was optional if we did a separate childs gift, but younger ones I think would really enjoy it....so I am planning a gift for kids hopefully. On that note - if I am correct so far - it looks like we have 4 or 5 teenagers, 7 grade school age and one toddler (3). If those numbers are right I am ok except for ideas for the teenagers.
So parents some ideas for small gifts for your teenagers please. It looks like they belong to TADsMommy and BibbdyBobbidyBoo. Also a few cabins have more than two names with no ages...if anyone else on FE list has kids but they don't have date or age listed please note age and sex so they don't miss out
Each person can make up their own mind as to how to give their gifts - I prefer one per person per cabin. The rationale for this - I often travel with friends, and we have to split up some things that don't split well!!

First of all, thank you to everyone working so hard making this cruise fun and special for everyone! :cheer2:

Second, I just joined the FE list and I have some questions since I've never done it before. Do I bring gifts for everyone on the list (48 staterooms I believe) or is the list going to be broken up into groups?

Also, I know you don't want to give out your secrets, but what are the usual gifts/acceptable gifts people give? Thank you!!

I prefer no fixed dates - I like the flexibility

Here are the guidelines that we set up for the FE exchange.

FE Guidelines/Rules:
1) Everyone on the list will give one gift per cabin (if you wish to do more we won't stop you)
2) The cut off for joining the FE is April 3rd to give everyone time to get their gifts together.
3) Cabin upgrades/assignment changes can be made in Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30. The updated list will then be posted on the door of cabin #5129.
4) All gifts should be delivered by Monday, May 9th to give everyone time to pack all their treasures.

I'm hearing that people would like to assign days for distribution. I've thought about this and read about others doing it but the consensus seems to be that while it is nice to plan but most people don't adhere to the assigned dates. What do you guys think?

prefer no assigned date.

That is how we have done things also. It's usually up to the individual who is preparing the gifts as to how many per cabin. We try for 1 pp, but I know that's not always feasible.

We also distribute the goodies as time permits. Sometimes we do everything at once, and other times we do one floor at a time. Flexibility is the key.

When all is said and done... ENJOY :goodvibes

Thanks for putting the list together for everyone!!!

I think things are fine just the way you have it organized. If you get too many rules and guidelines then it becomes more of a task than a fun thing to do. I usually deliver my gifts when there is nothing else going on, I really don't want a time slot assigned. Thank you for all that you have done to get this fun event organzied. :goodvibes

Duffy says Hi to Pal! Duffy has 2 flannel shirts, if they fit Pal, he can borrow one.

Lynn, we'll have to make sure our Duffy's don't try to play switcheroo on us.:rotfl: I'm bringing mine along as well, right now I've only got a parka for him, but I'd like to find him a flannel shirt as well.:thumbsup2

Our Duffy will be staying in Florida in the Wilderness Lodge Room. We will have to fill him on our adventures the next time we get down to Mouse Beach! :rotfl2:

Hey all,

I have been experiencing major problems trying to log on. It started after I received this email from Disney:

Dear Guest,
We have been informed by one of our email service providers, Epsilon that your email address was exposed by an unauthorized entry into that provider's computer system. Blah, blah, blah, blah

I have changed my password twice and still can't log on some days. Anyone else here affected by this?

My kids are doing the big countdown. Weather here is improving but still pretty chilly. The sunshine is nice, the wind however, is very cold. We live in BC about 400 miles south of Alaska so I strongly recommend a warm jacket. Temperatures have been ranging from 32-50F for the last week. Some days I can wear a t-shirt outside and today it's a winter jacket. I am sure that some of you have been following the long range forecast and can better provide information on that front.

I cannot remember if this has been addressed but are there any plans for a meet and greet and/or cabin crawl? I'd sure love to view one of the fancy suites in person if any of our group has one.

Three weeks and counting. Can't wait.

Thanks to everyone for your help with how to do FE gifts. I will print the new final list and do my kids count :) But if anyone has any ideas for those teenagers I would appreciate it.
I live in the Seattle area and the Pacific Northwest, including Alaska, has been having really strange weather. For excursion stops think layers...we have warm and sunny - short sleeves one day and frost on the ground - coats and gloves the next. Some we start in coats and end up in tee shirts within the same day:confused: not normal anywhere this year.

Can my Duffy play too?!?! He also has a flannel shirt!! And a sailor suit, and pajamas, and another sailor outfit, and ...

When is the champagne girls party?

We don't know yet. DCL has not gotten back to us with an availability. That's why I take down your room numbers.....most likely I will have to call your stateroom and leave a message with all the info. This is typical of DCL with giving us space to hold our tasting.

Ella Enchanted, what are the Champagne Girls? Judy

Pixie, they are ladies in pink tasting different champagnes. Go back to page 99 and read all about it. If you're interested in attending, then let me know and please provide all the info requested. Thanks.:goodvibes

I have sent a couple of private messages asking to join some activities. But my "account" shows "o" sent messages. I have sent them about scrapbooking, champagne girls, and one more I can't think of at the moment. Shouldn't they be listed as sent? Am a newbie to this forum the last few days and I am guessing it works like other forums I belong to.

Hi Pixie, I sent a reply back to you about the Champagne Girls....I hope you got it.

Of course! The more Duffys the merrier. Mine has the sailor suit, the UK outfit, a parka for this trip, still looking for that flannel shirt and grass skirt.

Hello!

Eeyore77 & I would like to sign up for the champagne girls. She's a $5 girl and I'm a live vicariously thru her girl.

Please lets know if we made the cut!

Thanks!

Welcome! I will be happy to add you both to the list, however, I will need to know both of your first names and your stateroom numbers. Thanks.

Regarding TIME and PLACE for the Champagne Girls Tasting to be held.....I received this from DCL:

"Hello Deb,

I hope that this email finds you well.

Unfortunately, the Beverage Team is unable to confirm either date for the “Champagne Tasting”. Is there another date that I can request for you? Please let me know.

Thanks,

David"

This was my reply:

Hi David,

How about day 3, Thurs. May 5th for the Champagne Girls Tasting?

If we change our time, would there be anything available on the two sea days that I originally requested?

It's hard for me to imagine that DCL wants to turn down 50 ladies drinking $500 worth of their champagne onboard. Have you checked with the Outlook Cafe, Promenade Lounge or any other bars besides Diversions, Sessions or Rock N Bar D.

We only need 2 hours somewhere. Could you please double check and make sure that you cannot find us any accommodations?

I will not tell my ladies that Disney is going to disappoint us and that we will not be holding a champagne girls tasting on this cruise until you get back to me. Please try very hard to find us a space to use. Give us some options of different times, places and dates that are available.

Thank you David, I know you're trying your best. Please understand how important this is to so many of us.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Best,
Deb

I have not heard anything back yet. I will give him some time to work on it and then I will call him directly later this week.

That is why it is so important that I have your stateroom numbers. More than likely you will get a message giving you all the information about the CG gathering. Usually, it takes right up until the last minute to work it out with DCL. This is typical.

Linda/seaulater......If you know anyone on the Wonder that can help us move this along, I would be most greatful for your help.
