North To Alaska--May 3, 2011 on the Disney Wonder

Ditto on what others sat , looking at health care in retirement is very very scary

So true. Nice thing about my retirement is that I take my healthcare with me.:goodvibes
I complain every now and then about the job, but it will pay off in the long run.

:banana::banana: Doing the dance for you Lynn! Still nothing in Yardville :confused3

We also bought Snow Sneakers from LL Bean... supposedly waterproof and warm. I will need one piece of luggage for shoes! :lmao:

I have LL Bean winter sneakers, I use them as snow boots in the winter, think they might be overkill on the cruise - but all my socks are "smart wool", so hopefully, that will keep my feet warm!

No Doc's here. but will be sad when they arrive.;)

We are canceling out on the first Alaska.

Seems life has gotten in the way once again, 2 weeks ago I went to work, for a 2 week period, with a company (Union worker), yesterday they said they would like me to stay on board, with things like pension credits (pension credits = $125 per year, every good year pension increases by that amount .) and health care for 2012 (I pay my health care year in advance) dangling in front of me, we have decided that Alaska can wait, I am now in the process of Calling Southwest, Tracy W. / TA , DVC, Jetblue and West Jet. :scared1: Napa Rose

We may however fit in a quick trip to DL & Or the world. :wizard: :lmao:
(working on that ) :goodvibes

:scared1:

I simply could not live with myself, if I was looking for hours at the end of the years to make this happen, and knew I had taken 2 weeks off in the beginning of the year (100) of needed 1000, We have gotten to the point in our life's that the money is nice, but the health care and Pension $$$ are more important! (Health care is a the law in Mass or you are fined!)
When did that happen?

But you know what I mean!

As we would like to retire a bit earlier than most, and Work for the mouse in less than 10 years! The earliest age I can pull pension!
and be able to afford to work for Disney! :headache: :rolleyes1

have Fun all..... :headache: :sad1::cool1:

(forgot to mention the 401k and the annuity)
Peter & Jenn

Sorry we won't see you on the cruise, but understand about pension and health insurance! (Guess I need to take those wood pieces out of my luggage that you gave us on the Dream - the ones that have your name on them!)

I got my docs yesterday!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3:

Deb - Marlene & I will be trying to upgrade at the port...I'll let you know if we're able to (for Champagne Girls notification).

Peter & Jenn - sorry you won't be joining us, but you made the right decision.

We got a room number. We are going to be in #2108!

Deb- I will just be an honorary member of the Champagne Girls. I am excited and will be picking out my pink and packing it soon.

YEAH Jill.....the boas and tiaras are ready. Can't wait to see you there!

What info do you need? My cabin number is 5142...My travel companion and I were trying for an upgrade that didn't materialize...we may do one at the port. He is undecided about the money....My repo docs arrived Wed...still waiting for Alaska...but I really don't need either.

Cayla

Thanks Cayla.....I got it now. Yes, I needed your room number. We're all good.

Thanks Monica.....I hope it works out for you. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and they won't change the room for the Champagne Girls at the last minute. hahaha.....we can only hope.

Thanks Deb, Give my Girl a hug from me!

2xl !

Peace see ya round the world... ;)

LOL of course!

Things are looking a bit better and we should be sailing on this and the Repo cruise. There is always going to be that last minute out for us just in case.

We are so behind in planning. Lots to catch up on!

Stick with the plan. It's the bigger picture. My DH John is retiring in 2 years from last month and he's counting down. He plans on working for the mouse 20 hours a week......preferably the night shift. We want to live nearby and get all those discounts!!!!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Can you say, penalty period!!!!! LOL I can! :rotfl: 50 %

Have fun!

Here are some tips that I received from my local camera shop owner...

I stopped by our local camera shop yesterday to pick up some larger memory cards for my digital camera and I am glad I did....I was lucky enough to be served by the camera shop owner and when he found out we were cruising to Alaska he advised that any old memory card will just not do. He explained that the cold temperatures can cause your memory card to be corrupted and you could lose your pictures. I know none of us want to lose our pictures so check your memory card to ensure it can withstand cold temperatures, especially those heading to excursions on glaciers. I ended up purchasing the Extreme SDHC memory cards by SanDisk - they can withstand temperatures from -12ºF to 185ºF. They were a little more expensive but I don't want to lose any of my precious memories of this cruise.

He also mentioned that the cold will reduce your battery life so it is best to have a battery (or two) as back up.

Just thought I'd pass along the information.

PETER!!! So Sorry to hear this!!! In the long run you made a great choice. Alaska will still be there.

DEB - Great to hear about the progress on the CHAMPAGNE GIRLS Meet! I added your list to the MEGA LIST

Anybody else following the weather in Alaska? I though this was funny - the forecast today in Juneau is a high of 48F and here at home it is only going up to 37F, I think I need to go to Alaska to get warm! :lmao:

Champagne Girls

I don't think we (sabrecmc and mom) are going to be able to make it. I'll be happy to send you the amounts for us if you've already committed money towards it. Sorry! Sounds like a blast.
