NORAD confirmed that North Korea launched two missiles. Both have landed in the Sea of Japan. No other details available yet. Dr. Strangelove is rattling his saber.

They just interrupted Oprah and announced it.

Do you have a link Dawn? :guilty:

No, I just heard that they launched the first one about an hour ago on Fox News. The second one was just confirmed by NORAD in the last half hour. I am prepared for Cardaway however to suggest that I am "making it up".

I hope it comes out later that our missle defense system kicked down the 3rd one. That would rock!

Just came here to post the same thing.

:guilty:

Now what :confused3

That would definately be cool, however, I think that their missiles have failed of their own accord. Oh well. This goes to show however that Ronald Reagan had the right idea. I loved that guy! (still do)

My brother works for a contractor that does missile defense work. He'll be happy to hear this news, as they've stationed data-grabbing ships in anticipation of the missile launch. Their next missile tests can use this data to recreate the N. Koreans' missiles and blow them to smithereens. The same thing will go for when they launch the long-range stuff, which is what we'd really have to worry about.

Apparently Japan is incensed by this - just before the tests, they released a "don't you bloomin' dare" statement to the country.

The local media reported that the first two weapons were medium range "Rodong" missiles, fired at 03:32 and about 04:00 local time (18:32 and 19:00 GMT respectively). The first crashed into the sea 373 miles (600 km) from the Japanese mainland.

A third weapon, presumed to be a long range "Taepodong-2" missile, failed about 40 seconds after launch, although details are vague at this moment.

A fourth weapon is also thought to have been fired.

Pyongyang has stated that anyone who tries to pre-emptively strike out at its facilities will be nuked - that's being played down at the moment, but remains a possibility.

They just said on Fox News that more missles have been launched during the past hour...I can only hope and assume they didn't hit any target. I just wonder what the next move will be...

CNN now says it is 6 missiles. First two short/mid range, third long range and failed in less than a minute, fourth short/mid, fifth not sure and sixth short/mid again.

I don't whine, I just state the obvious.

North Korea's leadership is scary. I dread what they will do next.

Yep, North Korea is the truly scary nation our there. This stuff is pretty spooky. :(

Our Air Force son is in South Korea now for about a month. This is just our luck...he gets over there and Long John Dong Wong or whatever his pissy little name is, decides to get horsey. ARGH! He needs a U.S. missle up his butt!
