DD recieved a hand-me-down North Face from a teacher at school(who also is has kids my kids ages, shared events, etc)

Do I do anything special to clean it? It is around 5 yrs old and lost some of its "fleecy fluffiness" but DD is just so happy and loves the color.
I want it to last another 5 yrs so I want to wash it properly.

Thanks in advance.

Isn't there a tag on it somewhere with cleaning instructions?

That was very nice of the teacher.. Maybe you have something you could give her in return as a thank you..:goodvibes

Go to their web site.. They have live chat reps available right now.. I asked about their products (not sure which one you have) and they said most are machine washable..

If you go there yourself, you can tell them exactly what item you have.. Only took 2 minutes..:thumbsup2

Thanks.
I'll go to their website.
I like the live chats.....so easy to get quick info.

The teacher will be getting a thank you card from me, DD already made her one and gave her a big hug.

Good..:) I also noticed that their items have a lifetime guarantee - pretty helpful in this day and age.. LOL..

I wash and dry all of them in the washing machine/dryer. The only thing that happens to them is the strings get unknotted from the zipper handles.

No, this coat will be my DD9's winter coat.
I am grateful for recieving it.
No selling.....and besides if items are in good shape after being hand-me-down and used my my DD then I pass it along. I don't see items like that.

I washed my DDs white Northface Denali and it came out great!!

I wash my dd's and put it in the dryer on the "fluff" cycle to prevent it from shrinking, then hang dry.

Pay it forward. Instead of selling the coat your daughter currently has, I would give it to the daughter of a needy family. I am sure you know someone like this among your friends or your daughter's friends. It is getting colder out. I am sure it will be appreciated.

We wash them like normal in the washer and I do dry them as well. Never had a problem. Our adult ones are over 6 years and my son's was 2 years old before he outgrew and it was still in great condition. I do wash his often too. He was 3-5yrs when he wore it.

I second this- this is what I do, and this is what happens to mine, too.

I wash on gentle and tumble dry on 'low'.

I have a black Denali.

As for paying it forward......done!
We always donate winter coats either to my friend's DD who has little girls OR "Give a Kid a Coat" program.

This is was exciting because we always are donating out grown winter coats but this is the first time we have been the recipient of one:)

BTW...talked to a rep at Backcountry.com and if you have proof of purchase....email, shipping address, etc. in their system they will replace jacket.

Why does it need replaced?

Your original question was about cleaning a perfectly good coat and you received good advice. Why did it suddenly turn into a discussion about turning it into a new coat? Personally, if I had given a struggling family a coat to wear, I would be insulted if I knew they inquired on a way to make a profit from it. Are you implying you are about to ask this teacher for her sales receipt and personal information? :sad2:
