Was suppose to pick up my friend and her family Monday after the Dream cruise. Got a message they were going to postpone flight because they caught noro on ship. Just picked them up this morning from airport and they look like they all lost 10 pounds. My brother and his GF celebrating New Years in NY and both
sick today.

Guess it must really be going around.

We sailed on the fantasy a couple weeks ago and they were constantly cleaning all handrails and common surfaces. I had never seen such constant cleaning - figured noro must’ve been going around.

Nothing new. You just have to use common sense to protect yourself. There was a Noro outbreak on the Magic in 2002/03 when we were on a NYE cruise. Confined spaces like cruise ships, college dorms and nursing homes are prime risk areas.

Partner and I pretty sure we got noro at home :P still recovering from it, don't even know anyone who went on a cruise. He got sick and then little less than 48 hrs later I got it so don't think it was food poisoning like we first thought.

I got it twice in 2 months from my son's daycare. Also hand, foot and mouth, which is real fun at 40+...

Our recent cruise (not DCL) ended with 3 days of Noro precautions. Noro never went away, and it's not "just a cruise thing".
Yup like I said in my post my brother and his GF in NY celebrating New Years got it and they have
been no where near a cruise ship. They mistakenly thought using lot of hand sanitizer would prevent it.
Did you end up avoiding it?

Yes, we didn't get it (although we did come back with a cold). Turns out hand sanitizer isn't all that effective in fighting Noro. The captain made several announcements those last 3 days, basically saying "wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands".

My "for example" story regarding Noro is the guy that was hiking up in Maine (or somewhere up there) all by himself who fell ill and they had to call out the rangers to come rescue him. When he got to the hospital he was diagnosed with Noro.

Stomach bug is everywhere right now, along with flu and colds etc. Hands-soap and water-scrub!

I work at a retirement community and Noro started going around there the week before Christmas. Several denied being sick or would say "food poisoning" to continue being social 🙄. We had to enforce Covid protocols again. 2 taken to the hospital before I went on holiday vacation Dec. 20. Thankfully, I don't return until the 7th.
