I tend to loose quite a bit on a daily basis. Not just while washing or brushing, but I find my hair everywhere. My hair isnt any thinner than it used to be though and this has been happening for a few years now. I think its just normal for me and Im just noticing it more now because my hair is much longer.
If you are concerned, call your doctor. Maybe there is something missing from your diet?
I just googled it and one website said 25-100 strands a day and another said 75-150 strands a day. They both said that anymore than that is considered abnormal.

my hair seems to go in cycles. in high school it was on the thinner side. then in college it got really thick. the past few years it has started to thin again.
i have always lost a lot of hair and the last time i went in for a haircut my hairdresser actually commented on it to me. I went to see my doctor - they found nothing wrong. my doctor said it was normal to go through thin/thick cycles.
i take a multivitamin every day for other reasons, so i'm not to worried about it.
