Nordictrack vs. Proform Treadmills

I'm going to cancel my gym membership next month because with my husband working all the time and DD having soccer, DS having drama club, etc., I am only able to get a good workout in around 3 AM, plus my gym is a good 15 minutes away. I was thinking about a family membership to the Y, but that's 15 minutes away too and gas is just way too much these days!

I've been looking at treadmills because it makes more sense that I can stay home and run when I need to and not waste the gas in going to the gym plus the cost of membership. Fans, fold-ups, steep inclines, warranties seem like pretty good things that would matter along with iFit compatibility, iPod docks and displays. I'm specifically torn between the Nordictrack 9500 Pro and the Proform Pro 4500. I know they're made by the same company but that's like saying L'oreal and Estee Lauder will do the same things for your skin (I'm a girl, it's my comparison, LOL:lmao:). They're both the same price at my local Sears and I can get free shipping or delivery on either.

Can anyone help me decide between these two brands? Is a touch screen necessary? What do you like better LED, LCD? I like that they include the Polar chest straps, but is there anything that makes training for the marathon necessary? Anything that would benefit me?

Thanks for your help.

I could make an argument for any possible choice.

I could make alot of trips to the gym and several years membership payments for $2000-5000 dollars. BUT my gym is 10 mins away and I got a killer deal and only pay $29 a year for membership and alot of times I run to the gym and back for my short runs. :rotfl2:

The lower cost treadmill did not get the best reviews and the more costly one did not have any reviews. Now I only went to the sears website since that is where you said you could get it so not sure what the reviews look like on another site.

I hate running on the dreadmill and think it is so much easier to actually run outside and I even run outside in the rain. Can (or will) you run during DD soccer practice, or your DS drama practice?

The more "stuff" it has the more possibility that that stuff can break.

Now if you will really use the treadmill every day and not use it as a clothesline then what YOU want is all that matters. Will you really get up every day at 3am and run? Will the kids use it.

There is a definate advantage to having one in the house that you can go to any time you want.

And of course I like what the Proform Pro 4500 has to offer. So if I was spending YOUR money that is the one I would go with. :lmao:

Edited to add: I see you say you can get them for the same price at your store. Online there is a $3000 difference so if you can get the Proform Pro for the less money jump now!
