DH is going on a "road trip"....well, actually flying....for work....I had the chance to go...but figured I would rather like it just staying at home......instead of him working 15hours a day and me stuck with the kids at a hotel...etc...etc

Anyway, just wondering what kind of town it is.....

A suburb of Atlanta. It's the headquarters for Waffle House. The area is OK.....decent parts and less safe parts. There has been a rash of home invasions in and around Norcross lately.

It's just down the interstate from a ton of shopping. Discover Mills, Gwinnett Place Mall and the Mall of GA in Buford.

thanks......for the info....kinda glad I decided not to go

Norcross is OK. There are worse areas around town. If you like shopping, you would have been set. It's also near Stone Mountain, which is a nice way to spend a day and/or evening. The Lasershow is always a treat.

DH will probably work 15 hour days there....so he really wouldn't be out an about....just wondered if I was going to miss anything....this is the first he has done this...I even wanted to set him up with a DIS member....but he's not into that either!!!!

thanks, though!!

15 hour days? Yikes! He'll be plum tuckered out.....pardon my Southern.....:teeth:

LOL!!!.......I just LOVE your accents!!!!!!!!!!!........That was kinda the main reason I would have love to went!!!!!!!!!!

I live one exit from Norcross. It's a very multicultural area, mostly homes and small businesses. You'd have to travel a bit to hear an accent like olena's! :earseek: The major area is Jimmy Carter Blvd, which is a gridlock nightmare!

Not a tourist area but only about 10 mins from many good areas to visit. I didn''t know about the home invasions, Heather, this is news to me.

I have an accent, too, but it sounds more like the Sopranos than the Dukes of Hazzard... :p

Does your DH have to stay in Norcross? There are 2 beautiful resorts in Stone Mountain Park, they are not far from Norcross. One of them is available on Priceline, we got a great deal there last August and are going back in August. The park is nice they have a lot to see and as someone else mentioned, the Laser show is great!!! We enjoyed hanging out by the resort pool.

A native Atlantan here. Not all of us have an accent, I don't. People always ask me what happened to my accent, I never had one. Norcross is not one of the better suburbs of Atlanta.

olena, they caught the guys doing the home invasions about a month or so ago.

I missed their capture. I wish they'd get the arsonists north of town. They've started setting fires in Roswell now. Ugh......sorry to be off-topic.

Many tech jobs are in Norcross, too.

My accent? It has been worn away by years of studying foreign languages and singing lessons. It may seem hard to believe, but many, especially Southern, singers have to be taught how to sing in English.

When I lived in New England, people were surprised to learn I was from Atlanta.

Thanks again everyone.

Drove DH to the airport this morning and he got there about 2 this afternoon. He is staying on that Jimmy Carter Blvd at the Country Inn Suites or something like that. There is a Hooters right across the street from the hotel....he called me from there.

Funny what a small world it really is...one of the waitresses noticed he was not from that part of town (must be that Michigan accent!!) and asked where he was from.....he said a suburb of Detroit....and I guess one of the other waitresses is down there going to school and is from the next town over from us.....just thought that was weird.....

He won't have much time to do anything while he is there though....but I reminded him he had to watch the Pistons win it tomorrow night though!!! He said he will probably go to Hooters since they have a big screen (and another guy from work is suppose to fly in tomorrow morning).......

Well I happen to be a Norcross native. Grew up there 40 years ago, lived there all my life until a few years ago. Things were much different then. Now live 30 miles north, but work near Norcross. Still a great city. It's my hometown as Mr. Springsteen would say.:rockband:
