Honestly I looked at Misty's website before and wasn't too thrilled. At this point I am wondering if I should just go with Disney photography and pay the $750 for the cd...it would be about the same as hiring someone else

Maybe you should check out Root. Lurkyloo is using them and I've loved all the pictures that I've seen so far.

The pictures are gorgeous, but as soon as I saw "half day pricing begins at $2500" imy jaw dropped. For our little budget escape wedding I can't go over about $1000 for the photos.

You know what I say then stick with Disney - I think of all the people I "know" who've stuck with Disney Photography 99% have been happy, that's gotta be the same odds as having an outside vendor. Disney do a lovely job on Escape Weddings

I have seen some pictures by Taz Photography that are very good!!

I think Laura had her photos done by Taz and they were beautiful! I've actually spoken to him on another Disney forum, and he is a very nice man :yes:

Randy gets booked up soooo quickly, our weddings next May so i emailed him to enquire about pricing etc as i was nt planning to book him until this May. He got back to me very quickly but told me he already had 8 bookings for May 09 which i was a little shocked over. On hearing that i booked him there & then as i panicked that we would nt get him if i waited any longer. We re still 16 months out till our date & hes already that far in advance getting booked up .

I'm sure there are many other photographers available. I had the opposite experience. First I was like, I will go with disney for photography, and then at christmas I was like maybe I should find an outside vendor, and found an amazing one, Garrett Nudd. But, he was booked. So I emailed Randy about two weeks ago and was able to book him for my wedding, and it was only 4months away at that point.

Using Disney could also be a benefit if you are doing the MK shoot, then ALL of your photos are on the CD. Also ask if you get all your proofs. For me, that would have made a difference as I wanted access to all my photos, but not necessarily to have additional prints made, just to have them. I had Ty for our MK Shoot and Paul for our Honeymoon shoot and both were fab !

Since you are having an escape wedding, you could always talk to the non-Disney photographers to see what other options they have for you. I probably wouldn't want a photographer for a half day with and escape. Probably just 2-3 hours (wouldn't really need them for a reception).

I agree with Eeyore. Although I'm using Misty for my VR, I have spoken to Taz many, many times. His style is similar to others mentioned here, and his prices are reasonable.

Root photography is flexible when it comes to pricing and they've been really nice to work with so far. Don't settle for a Disney photographer if it will just end up bumming you out!!! Your wedding pictures are going to be beautiful!

I love the photos from Root that I have seen. I think it would be worth a call to them to see if there is flexibility in their pricing. Lurkyloo's engagement photos were lovely.

That said, I wouldn't discount Disney either. Having seen photos that recent brides have gotten from Disney, I've been quite impressed with them. I don't think you would end up disappointed with them if you don't find an outside photographer to your liking/budget

I agree with the others - don't discount someone because the prices on their website were too high. They should be able to customize a package for you. Carrie's photos are really stunning...

I remember Carrie saying that Root was too expensive for her, but when she called them up - they were willing to customize a package that worked for her. So that might be something to think about.

I really like her photos and her price is very reasonable. I want to find out if she has any experience at Disney but what are the chances you think they would either count her as a guest or charge an escort fee since she is not one of the regulars?
