Noooo - Tarzan show cancelled for 2009!!

So now DLP has lost 2 good shows, I sincerely hope that the Magical Party events are worthy replacements.
I can see that it makes sense to get rid of the old to make way for the new if it's not financially viable to have both, but from what I've seen the Magical Party reminds me of the Kid's Carnival, a bit something and nothing really, I hope I'm wrong.

When I red this yesterday I really thought if I should cancel my plans for this year.
No Candelabration anymore, all the 15th decoration will be gone too and now my favorite show of them all will also be gone.
I was really shocked. :scared1:

I have the same hopes as jillrobinson but I think we will be wrong. Mickeys Party will be something for the younger ones but it won't be a replacement for Tarzan or Lion King. Because these shows were perfect for all ages.

And I think it is also true what you can read at dlrptoday:

A strange decision, if true, since the cost of running Tarzan versus two extra days of DJ Stitch must be slightly imbalanced — not to mention it being unlikely that that same 1,350 people who could see each Chaparral Theater show will be able to crowd around the outdoor location of the dance-along in the streets of Discoveryland…

:guilty: :sad2:

It seems a very strange decision for the park management to take :confused3

:confused3 Cant understand this one im very sad this was my favorite show I liked it better than the lion king .We are taking some first timers next year and this was a must see hope we have a good replacement by then

I'm sure that the Tarzan show will only be running through the Summer months and not cancelled completely. I will hunt down my source for this.

I thought the Tarzan show was brilliant- what a shame :(

What a shame, big loss, thoroughly enjoyable show and like others not convinced that the replacement will suit the same age range...is this a sign of the financial pressures coming to bear?

Oh no, was really looking forward to seeing Tarzan again in May, it's one of the best things at the park. :confused3

Absolutely gutted. We are off again in June with friends and the Tarzan Show was one of the highlights of the trip. Very disappointed Disney have left the announcement so late.

My wife is particually gutted because she can't see Tarzan swinging around in his lioncloth!!!:rotfl2:

If following the threads on other forums regarding this topic, you'll also note as part of this story, rumour has it the Chapperal Threatre will also be leveled in favour of something.

As for whether Tarzen is cancelled - pass, other than I've seen a couple of - normally spot on - people claiming this is the case.

However, is as the rumour suggests that the Chapperal Threatre is also for the chop, does this mean we've also seen the last of "Mickey's Winter Wonderland"?

This does all seem strange to me, first they close the "Lion King" over Discoveryland with no known (publically) replacement, then take out "Tarzan" - apart from shows on the Hub, doesn't this leave the part with very little entertainment?.

My DH is the "ride" fanatic and I am the "show" fanatic ... what will I do now!

I also adore the mickey's winter wonderland and will be gutted if they close that as well.

If Tarzan, Lion King and Mickey's Winter Wonderland are all stopped and no replacements then think this year might be our last!!!

Desparately trying to get to WDW ... do they not put on "whole" shows in the park, for example beauty and the beast?

that is such a shame. i do think that the shows are a huge part of my trip well last time anyway. i wouldnt mind something being cancelled if there was a replacement

Hopefully they'll replace this with something else as good...

The show/ride balance is a very tricky one for DLRP. When the studios first opened, it had mainly shows and look what happened - it flopped (relatively speaking) until they added some new rides.

At the end of the day, regardless of what the research says, it seems to be the rides that pull people to the parks and therefore make the money. For as long as this continues to be the case, I'm afraid I can't see DLRP spending vast amounts of money on shows as unfortunately they don't have the luxury of being able to afford both quality shows and quality rides .

Totally agree! :thumbsup2

Would love something from Beauty and the Beast, especially the "be my guest" song and dance part.

I am amazed that the shows are not as popular as the rides, even DH who loves the rides, loves the shows as much too

This is a funny one. If memory serves me right, the reason the Studios was so slanted towards shows originally was because all the research showed that people wanted shows, so they must be popular.

The problem more arises that people only like the shows alongside the rides - few people seemed to want to pay to visit a park with few rides.

Unfortunately for show fans, the reverse of this is not true - people will gladly pay to visit a part with few shows, though they may grumble a little once they're there.

It's like the "Le Noël de Mickey" show that used to be in that theater under then Fantasyland train station; it closed, the theater closed and I'm not sure if it's used for anything else now?

They also used to have a Beauty and the Beast show during the Christmas season, that one has been closed too :(

*sigh*

Oh no I missed the beauty and the beast show .... was it any good.

I remember the Le Noel de Mickey and loved that show also.
