And she won't ride the 44" rides (Space, EE), she's too scared. I was planning on using rider swap and now I can't. There are some instances where having a tall 4 year old is a pain and this is one of them. ;) She had better not grow 3 inches before Nov, I still want rider swap for Rockin Roller Coaster!

Going by the rules listed on the website, you may well be able to get a switch for her. Those rules do not require that the person not riding be under the height requirement.

We have been successful in getting a switch pass under those circumstances, but ymmv depending on how hard you want to push it.

We had every intention of getting a switch pass for TOT on our last trip for my grandson who is 3, but he decided he wanted to ride everything he was tall enough for. These kids that insist on growing! :( :)

Can you tell or convince her to try the ride just once?? My daughter was very scared of TOT. She leaned into me the whole way through the line, then practically sat on top of me in the elevator. By the time we got off the ride, she was dragging me back on line to do it again. Similar circumstance for EE as well. She didn't particularly like Space, but going to make her go with me again anyway and see if she changes her mind on this trip. LOL. Good luck! =)

Bribing our daughter worked in the past, but fell flat this year. She won't ride ToT, though she just rode this yesterday:

What??

Holy cow, I cannot believe she rode on that thing and won't get on TOT. Course I won't get on either of them. Lol

We will have to come up with something for my 7yr this year, he is tall enough but afraid to ride the rides.

In her defense, TOT is spooky scary. That's just thrilling. I still don't really like the spooky factor of TOT, but I love the drop sequence and the pulling you back up. I so wish it had different theming!!

I'm going to show her some videos of the rides and see if she might do them. I thought rider swap was only available if they didn't meet the height requirement though. But I'd love her to ride them if I can convince her!

The website policy isn't the in-parks policy. Some CMs are willing to go against their training so it matches what some silly webpage creator wrote but a better place to go would be guest services to show them the problem.

I really doubt the web designers create corporate policy.

Have the webpage bookmarked on your phone just incase...we have not had trouble getting rider switch for our tall enough child when he was having a chicken year..,(he rode the 40 inch rides at age 3 and 4, but not 5, only some at 6 and 7 when he was bribed, and then at 8, he rode them all when his finally tall enough sister was showing him up as she was a daredevil! But did get a rider switch for tower of terror..she wasn't doing that twice!)

I think the problem as it's been posted in several threads here is that the in-park policy seems to only allow rider swap for those who can't ride because of height restrictions, regardless of what the website says.

Don't feel too bad. On our last trip DD13 (who is 5"7 and taller than me) refused to ride Space Mountain and TOT while her 4 year old baby brother jumped at the chance . We finally got to the point where everyone was "tall enough" but the tallest one wouldn't ride! Fortunately (for her) I was two months pregnant with our youngest child so she had someone to sit out with .
Your daughter might have a change of heart though, you never know. Kids this age can be so unpredictable. Funny thing is my DS6 who was 4 on our last Disney trip recently told me that he may not want to ride TOT again. I asked him why because DH said he enjoyed the ride, then DS6 tells me he doesn't want to ride it again because all those spiderwebs grossed him out :upsidedow

We had to bribe my 9 year old to ride each of the mountains once. He got a PIN for each one. We didn't even attempt RnR or ToT. Even though we had rider swap (younger kids as well), we didn't use it because DH nor I wanted to ride alone.

Totally with your daughter. I love suspended coasters, I feel so safe in them. TOT is too creepy (I don't do horror) and if I'm dropping at that rate, I want an overhead harness. I cannot talk myself into TOT but I'd be first in line for that coaster!

Correct. And it's not corporate policy. Exactly my point. Someone messed up on the website around 2 years ago (just as the full reality of MDE reared it's ugly head), and the in-park CMs still haven't been trained to follow what the web person wrote. Because they follow their rules.

Showing the CMs at the rides will get you nowhere. But taking up the ladder jut might eventually get *something* changed.

just request the swap anyway. they wont deny you.

Sure they will. MANY people have reported a gigantic lack of success. Because it's not how the CMs in the park are trained, and a good in-park CM will follow the policy they were trained with.
