I called the 800 number tonight to ask some questions and get info on a DVC SSR purchase and they had NOONE who could talk to me.

They took our address and name and will mail an info packet. Actually the girl said the "guide" would mail the packet.

Am I stuck with this guide even though I've never even spoke to her or will we be assigned another when we go back to Orlando and tour SSR?

Why does it make a difference? You won't know either guide before you have met them, you don't get a choice, anyway. Why don't you wait until you have the info, and have been contacted, before you worry about this? Give the guide a chance before you kick them out--the next one might be worse than the one you have ;)

Here's the other side of the coin: our guide was honest, responsive, not pushy and very helpful--exponentially better than the average timeshare guide. I've heard the same about many other DVC guides. We found it helpful to always speak to one person who recognized us when we called for a question, and remembered and understood our issues.

To let you sleep tonight, ask for Gib. He is the hardest work'in guide in the biz. You will not be disappointed.

Randy is really helpful. He's given me lots of info and pointers, and he knows I'm buying resale! (but probably going to buy some SSR points from them)

One complaint I had though, a lady from DVC called me last week and just wanted to confirm that I received my DVD. Then she asked if I would like to receive the additional information (pricing, point charts, benefits, etc..). I said sure and she asked me to hold for a minute while she selected a guide for me. Then she came back and said that my guide, Randy, would be sending me the packet.

Well, I called the other day and talked to Randy and he said he never got the message to send me a packet, but he said I would have one in 2 days. He then answered a bunch of my questions, made some suggestions, and just some general DVC chatting about vacations. He's really nice and very personable - I guess that's why he's been there for so long!

Anyway, don't stress it. I have a feeling you will be pleased with your guide.

I got my info by clicking on the DVC icon at disney.com and was called immediately by a representative. I loved our guide, but I would bet that every guide there is terrific. Everyone will think that their guide is the best. My original guide that I talked to last year was promoted to management and I thought his replacement guide was even nicer. Almost a year after getting the original info I was ready to buy and my dh was working 6 days a week, my guide made himself available on a sunday just to speak with dh. I think I must have called him a million times with a million question before we made up our minds to buy.
When I made our first reservation my guide gave me another call to ask if I needed any more help or had any questions, he said he'll give me a call after our first dvc visit. I hope to always get this level of helpfullness from Disney. And from what I've read.... you do.

We used Lisa, thought she was great!

We eventually spoke with our guide Rose who is based out of HH. She said they were up to 90 guides now. She was great about our questions and I think we'll purchase by the end of the week.

My faith is renewed.

soon to call SSR home

I'm going to chime in here. Ask for Michelle. Three add on's later I'd call her again if we were to add pts. Our original sales person was Ellen.

Well, here's another vote for Gib...he is AWESOME!!!

But, the "phone guides" are ALL real senior. Chances are, you will love the guide you get (but, not as much as I love Gib!!!) ;)
