Nook question

Santa had my Nook wrapped up since Black Friday, so I was so glad to finally be able to open it.

Other relatives gave me some B&N gift cards, so I've got close to $100 in my account now. Of course, now I can't decide what to read first. :rotfl:

Last night, as our blizzard was underway, it was awesome to just sit with the nook and read for a few hours. Even better was being able to switch to another book without having to move out from under my blanket. :thumbsup2

As a huge book person, I had always been a bit skeptical about missing out on having a "real" book in my hands, but, so far, the Nook has been top notch. This week I'm off to re-up my library membership and borrow some eBooks.

Same here and I totally agree with everything you said except I wish I did get those gift cards:woohoo:good for you!!!

I am happy to report that with alittle practice I seem to be doing better turning pages with the touch pad...the jury is still out as to which I prefer:confused3

As others have said, your library book will be in "My Documents" on your Nook. Now there may be another problem, where it is in "My Documents" but you can't open it. That's what happened to me. If you need the fix, let me know.

Oh, no, I knew that (about My Documents - I have some other books in there)... this one just isn't there. But when I hook the Nook up to my PC, the book shows up in the Nook folder.

It's strange.

Has anyone else noticed problems downloading this weekend on Nook? I have had my nook for months now, never had a problem before, but this weekend couldn't even get into search, when I opened the shop, it would show the main screen, but if I clicked on Top 100, for example, it would give me an error message telling me to call if problem persisted. I was just called by a friend who got one for Christmas and she can't get in to register it cause it is giving her the same error message.

It was hit or miss all weekend. I did a little research and found out that last Christmas it was the same. They sold a ton of these things, and everyone who got one wanted books right away, so it really put a strain on their servers. It seems that they upgraded this year to prepare, but they probably sold way more than last year, so it countered their upgrades.

I was told to try in a few days and it will slowly get better.

That being said, I was able to download 2 books from B&N directly from the Nook yesterday.

Just imagine how many people opened up a new Nook this weekend and are trying to get it set up and order books. Same thing happened last year.

That's what I thought, and what I told my friend I suspected was the situation. I had gotten mine for my birthday, so not a major holiday. She was being told by folks that it was because she needed to go out and exchange it for the 3G model instead of the wifi one (which I have too), and I told her I was sure it was just B&N system overloaded with holidays.

I wasn't even able to access my wish list over the weekend. It must be crazy-busy.

Seems like the whole system is slow. As I said I have a ton of gift card credit, and I bought 2 books yesterday. They have not removed the amounts from my gift card balance, yet, nor have they charged my credit card (which I was afraid of, at first).

Some people have said they bought books on the 25th, and just this morning, the charges finally went through. :scared1:

Question for you guys----- DD got a Nook for Christmas. Our local library isn't set up to lend books electronically. I thought I read on here someone that there were e-libraries you could join. Did I dream this???

I've had my Nook for awhile now, but I just tried to sideload my first library book today. With absolutely no success.

I can drag it to the Nook, and it'll show up in the Nook folder, but it isn't on the Nook itself. When I try to do it a second time, it tells me that it's already there. I worked at it for so long (I even deleted the book, and reinstalled both it, and Adobe Digital), it started making me angry, so I said to heck with it and gave up.

Try searching for new B&N content on your nook and it might show up. Also on Facebook there is an AMAZING nook page. They answer questions, help with any issues, and are great people to talk to. I have lots of books in epub format, so if anyone wants them, PM me. I have had my nook for a while and can help with questions...
