What's it like for non-swimmers at Discovery Cove ?

How close can I get to my kids when they swim ?

I'm probably going to book tickets for the kids anyhow. Can't decide whether to give them as Christmas presents ? I've read here somewhere that it's an idea to hand them to the kids when they get restless on the flight.

We all swam last year and returned this year but I didn't swim and videod the kids instead. It's luck of the draw which swimming group they are in as some are easier to film than others. It might be worth asking that your kids are put in a group that is near the shore. There is a little promontory between the two bays that you can stand on to film but the rule is only walk where there is a sandy path and do not climb on the rocks. I found that the three Discovery Cove cameramen tend to block your view a bit but if you move around and use the zoom you should be able to get good shots. I was pretty pleased with my video. If you can use a tripod it would make a big difference to the zoom shots. The Discovery Cove video is $60 odd (plus tax?) but you get everyone in your group, not just your family. The photos are usually pretty good and are $16.95 which isn't bad compared to what they charge for poor quality park ride photos.
