What is the longest any of you have driven to get to WDW without stopping for the night? I realize you would stop for gas, food and breaks, but how many miles or hours of driving have you done?

1275 miles, 23 hours.

15-16 hours, 875 miles.

Actually, it was my DW who did all that driving.

That's actually the only way we do our driving.. we leave at night an hour or two before the kids usually go to bed so the majority of our drive is when they are sleeping.

I don't remember how long it takes us, but per mapquest it's suppose to take 20 hrs and is 1229 miles. (From Grand Rapids, MI area)

Not me, personally, but my neighbors drove from MA to WDW in 28 hours (switching off drivers). My husband and I drove straight from Tennessee. I believe that was about 16 hours.

To all who qualify, join us on the "For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" thread! Welcome!

Many of us do lengthy straight-through drives. In fact, our last six drives have been of that variety.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Buffalo to Orlando a few times - I think that was about 21 hours. Now we can barely tolerate 14-16 from our current home, but we do it!

880 miles 13 hours (many times) Leave Maryland 9:00 am arrive Orlando 10:00 pm Not a bad drive in the winter, a little tougher in the summer.

drove home 1,250 miles 22 hours 1 driver. We had planned to stop but a nor easter had other plans. Ever try to get into New England in a snow storm?:scared1::scared1::scared1:

21 hours from northwest corner of Illinois to WDW in summer. we wouldn't try it in the winter because of ice potential. Be sure and make time to nap and decompress your first day as you will have a "jet lag" type of feeling. Look at your Florida arrival time and work backwards. You want to be able to check in when you arrive to catch up on good quality sleep, eat a leisurely meal, swim, relax, etc. We found it was a great way to enjoy our resort;)

Thanks for all the info. We are considering a 1500+ mile trip. We have 3 drivers, but it still sounds grueling.

16 Hrs for us, we drive it 2-3 times a year. Our friends call us the " Rt 95 Road Warriors". 1011 miles door to door.

We've made the drive from Pittsburgh to WDW 6 times. It is a little over 1,000 miles and we have always gone non-stop. The best time we made was just over 14 hours, which came after a full workday. We arrived around 7AM, so we checked-in and made it to the MK for the rope drop. Stayed awake until after our 5PM Chef Mickey reservation. I do all the driving so I was up for 39 straight hours:eek:. Typically we average just under 15 hours per trip. This year we decide to give the autotrain a try.

With 3 drivers, totally doable. :-) Work to synchronize bladders. ;)

We are 2 drivers doing about 1000 miles each way (about 16 hrs of driving). My advice is this: straight through on the way there. Stop once on the way back. Try to pick something fun to do on the way back as part of the stop.

From NH going out through Penn, around NYC and NJ.. about 18-19hours straight through. Only stopping for bathroom and gas, and try to do those in same stop. I pack tons of food so that helps.

We used to do the drive all the time.....usually straight thru, just me as the driver.....would stop at Daytonna or Cocoa Beach for the night arriving in Florida so I could rest up and wife and children could see and enjoy the ocean.....many a trip since 1977....

But, as the years worn on, I got alot older, more traffic and stress on the roads.....we gave up driving.....if we did, we'd have to stop for the night on the road.....to fix that problem...we discovered Amtrak.....little less than an hour to our pick up station but pleasant ride to Florida on the train and when we're tired, we just close our eyes and the train keeps rolling along....We never used our car in WDW when we drove...and we've seen enough of the ocean to last us, so it's not needed.....we also enjoy sitting back and letting someone else do the driving on the way home, engineer of the train does just fine.....after a hectic vacation in WDW, sure hated looking at that 1100 mile drivee home.....those that like it....enjoy....those like us that don't fly...all aboard!!

This March we did about 1400 miles (Iowa to Orlando), 24 hours almost exactly. 2 drivers, 2 little kids (ages 6 and 3). It went shockingly well, although both times we were all pretty zonked when we got to our destination!

We'll probably do it again this coming March.

About 980mi solo from home to WDW itself BUT...

This followed a FULL day of our TWO weddings; The legal one and a "show" one for the family. Departed Columbus, OH about 8:30p. I drove solo the entire way. At a rest stop just over the GA border I popped a bunch of No-Doze...BIG mistake. Had hallucinations going through Atlanta and had to pull off to come down from a bad case of the shakes near the airport. The rest of the trip was uneventful although after arriving in Kissimmee we had dinner at Medieval Times.
