Dating a smoker would not be a problem. Dating someone who is obese is another story ..
If those were the only choices-- THAT would be a problem.

I also understand that some wonderful people are smokers and it's an extremely hard thing to kick. I don't think I would write somone out of my life that would treat me like a princess and love me forever with a grace not found much anymore because of something that he/she could eventually stop especially with love and encouragement.

When I am out with friends for dinner or out watching the game, they have to leave the table to got outside to smoke. I am forever finding myself sitting by myself and it truly bothers me -- not that I'm sitting by myself but the rudeness of leaving me there.
I look at this as practice.I have always been a non smoker and I married a smoker. I knew he smoked when I started dating him. He does not somke inside the house or in the car with me around. He very seldom very smokes around me and actually now he hasn't smoked in 3 weeks. I'm so proud of him!

Wow, smoker-hatred is alive and well.![]()
Very well said!
I am so lucky to have a husband, friends and ILs who never have smoked but love me even though I do and have never been rude or mean to me for my shortcomings.
I am currently on Chantix and trying very hard to quit and hopefully will be smoke free around the New Year.
Not only alive and well, but appears to be a socially acceptable sport.

, but if I were dating, I would NEVER consider someone who smokes. Congratulations, Sadie.
Seriously. And if you're fat and you smoke, well, it's amazing those people manage to find anyone to love them![]()
If the disboard is any indication of the national feelings then I have to say that it would not only be amazing but downright unlikely.

Let's be clear -- I don't think ANYONE here is stating that they hate smokers. But why is it wrong to find bad breath, stinky clothes and hair and watching someone die a PREVENTABLE hideous death a turn off?Wow, smoker-hatred is alive and well
My SIL smoked until she got pregnant. I still loved her to death and never thought any less of her for it. I just couldn't DATE someone who smoked. Obviously my brother could (even though he doesn't smoke), so to each his own.

I also wouldn't date someone who picks their nose and eats it either or spends time digging in their rectum for dingleberries. What's the difference between those behaviors and smoking? They are all disgusting habits IMO and if all that blows smoke up your skirt, great. It doesn't for me.
